How about a Ruby sub forum in Programming

Sorry if this has been brought up, but I did a search for Ruby on Rails and got nothing.

I plan on doing a site pretty soon using RoR, but I really don't know much about Ruby itself. My only reason is that the CRUD scaffolding of Ruby on Rails seems much better than the comparable PHP frameworks (like CakePHP).

How come there isn't already a Ruby forum? No interest, or is the Ruby crowd just on another site?

Its not really a highly discussed topic on here. Probably would explain why it doesn't have its own section.

Comparing RoR to Cake is comparing Ruby to PHP. PHP is by far the most used server-side scripting language there is. Its on more sites than everything else combined. I have nothing against RoR as it was the inspiration for Cake, but it probably explains why it doesn't have a section.

Very true, but I'd say that's not because its a better language, just that its harder to host RoR apps in alot of cases. Every server you can buy lets you use PHP...as well as the fact that wordpress is programmed in PHP.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of PHP and have programming it for years, but that's also why I'd be interested in a RoR forum. I don't know Ruby too well, but watching the tutorials so far it looks incredibly intuitive, and almost fun to program. But, without a forum of knowledgeable people to go to, I'm a little worried that if I run into a really crazy problem that I'm not anticipating, that I could have a huge stall on an app that I could have finished in PHP.

Ruby threads can go into the main programming section

you may also find you get a more competent response from the specialist ruby forums.

If you did a search and found nothing, that pretty much sums up why it doesn't have its own forum.
