How about a Google boycott? Serious question

Nevermind the fact you didn't like the Penguin update as a webmater.

What about from the standpoint as a regular user searching the Internet?

Google has declined as being a place for us to find what we are looking for with ease.

    Example:

Just yesterday, I ran a search on Google to find out about Penguin's effect on Wordpress blogs and their structure.

My answer did not appear on Page 1, or Page 2, and then I stopped.

Guess what I did next? I went to www.BING.com! Yes, BING!

Ran the same search and where did my answer appear? FIRST SPOT IN THE SEARCH RESULTS.

I got my answer easily from Bing, not Google, BING.

So what if I'm on to something here? If I can find answers to my questions easier and more accurately on Bing, why the heck should I continue to use Google for my web searches?

Here's what I ask you... pick a search... run it on Google and then run it on Bing, and you tell me where you got better results?

If your answer is Bing, why not join me in an effort to stop using Google altogether for our web searches?

Anyone out there want to start a Google Boycott website? I am serious here. Anyone who signs up would be signing up to cease use of Google for their web search needs. Of course, as a webmaster, you want to continue to submit your sites to Google, Bing, etc, but to find what you need to find, FORGET Google!

Keep this in mind, Google is already established... Google knows that they can experiment and toy with the websites and people are going to keep using it anyway because it is synonymous with "web search" but Bing, on the other hand, has something to prove. They are working hard to be reliable, working hard to be the best. They can't afford to get fancy like Missy Mike Cutts over at Google... their focus is on getting people to what they need without all the bullcr*p politics and experiments involved.

If Google keeps treating people so poorly, I think more and more will start using search engines like Bing, Yahoo, etc. I use Yahoo Search quite a bit myself.

The only thing why I use Google is just because it works faster. I hate waiting for search results.
    Yahoo uses Bing search, BTW.

IMO the best solution is to forget about those websites and start new ones =) of course, if you haven't put too much into them

Everyone keeps compaining about Google but everyone here still uses them.

If google is your homepage, switch it right now and stop using it for your searches - I've done it already and I keep telling everyone else to do it. If everyone does it they will HAVE to listen.

First off, I wanna remind anyone here in case they forgot: This is not about how Google treats our websites, this is about how lately, Bing search results have been giving us greater relevance for our searches than Google does and it has become superior simply in terms of being able to find what you are looking for as a person using the Internet!

That is why we need to start a website where people can sign up, and by doing that we are also committing ourselves to cease use of Google as a web browser and use Bing (or something else) for our OWN web searches. Obviously we won't stop submitting sites to Google because we want our businesses to succeed, but we want to empower other search engines that have emerged at being the best at what they do and what they are supposed to do, without all the fancy tactics that has made Google move SO FAR from its fundamental purpose which is to provide quality search results!

Anyone out there want to start a website for this purpose? Just a simple thing where we can sign up and thereby commit ourselves to cease use of Google for our own web search purposes. Anything can go Viral these days... you never know... but all I do know is that Google is becoming less and less reliable as a search engine, which means it is becoming worse and worse at its very purpose!

    I'm with you guys.
I'm tired of google, but the question is, are there better engine choices out there?

    I don't like yahoo. Its too 1997.
Bing slammed my site with the penguin so obviously there are some affiliates there.

    So what else is there?

I think it's awesome that everyone here is on the same page.

Its not like we are doing this out of anger towards Google...

Its one thing if Google slapped some of us with Penguin, but it's another thing when Bing truly provides better search results! Its proven... and there is no reason not to get in the habit of using Bing.

Microsoft isn't always the good guy, but this time around they look like it... and they have a pretty good track record of taking things over ;)

Really? Everything that happened to my sites on Google after Penguin rolled out did not affect anything on Bing. First I have heard of that.

Yes, its because google slapped me with the penguin. that's my only reason and its a damn good reason.

You obviously didn't read my message. I just told you that when the penguin happened it affected my search engine results in bing as well. So bing is no good either. What else is there?

they de-ranked me as well, so obviously they are on googles' payroll as well.

No, I did a double check. I must've did something wrong. Looks like bing is legit. The search results are still a fair bit screwed up, but better than google.

    I have switched to bing.
