    Hi,

Google and most other search engines use links to determine reputation. Link-based analysis is an extremely useful way of measuring a site's value, and has greatly improved the quality of web search. A site's ranking in Google search results is partly based on analysis of those sites that link to it. Both the quantity and, more importantly, the quality of links count towards this rating, that it is free or paid links.

    Regards
    Amit :)

thanks amit for being responding, but how a search engine determine that a link is paid or free. We can add relevant link to paid site, like some directory sites require money before adding links then how a search classify them or notice them..??

I suspect Google uses a variety of tools including manual assessment. Some of the larger link selling sites such as Statcounter were caught very early in the process. These sites can keep on selling links. They just have to make their links no follow.

    Hi,

Buying and selling links is a normal part of the economy of the web when done for advertising purposes, and not for manipulation of search results. Links purchased for advertising should be designated as paid links.

    Amit :)

Hi Amit, nice shared by you. This made it clear for me to understand paid links to some extent. However, I wonder if placing links in paid directories and blogs can be count as paid or free. I think placing links in a commercial way like advertisements can count as paid link. Your thought please.

They have their own way in distinguishing paid links. If what's their way? I have no idea. They keep it private.

One way for a search engine to find a paid link, is if the site has no relevance to each other, that is a sure red flag

I am conerned about this issue too. As I am buying links. I don't think Google canauto-detect which links are paid links, given that the posts links are closely related to the main theme of the blogs. But I do find that many of the link seller's blogs are penalized by Google. I guess this is because some of them are placing irrelevant links to their blogs, or post same contents to many of their blogs. I wish to learn more about how google can detect paid links.

I don't have much idea on how google distinguished paid links.. They have their own strategy to determine those things and that SEO specialist must find out..

Google can't detect in any way either the link is paid or free.
Paid links are not recommended bcoz of following reasons:-
1). If we submit our site in paid directory our site get backlink instantly if the number of getting backling in a short period is high then Google suppose it as Spamming and penalize the site.
2). Most of webmaster submit their site in high PR directory without looking at the directory niche.
3). It is very expensive way.

Paid link are beneficial as long as they are relevant to your niche and limited in a specific period.

I don't think they can detect paid or free links as long as the service/network isn't found.
