How a ? about whey this site ranks well

Hi all

I hope this the right area

I was looking up the word football picks

and this site is ranked high and I can't figure why ...if someone could help me that would be great.

I don't see much of any link popularity but it has a PR of 5...how does this happen???

Alll of his other pages on his site look to be a weird URL to me....


I would love any help and should I be doing what he does.

I know he has alot of keyword pages but other then that waht is he doing.

You don't see any link popularity? Yahoo site explorer says the site has 12000 inlinks! And the first 10 are on topic as well. My guess: you used the google link: command to check link popularity. Don't do that, it doesn't work.

What he's doing well? Aside from having a very cute writing style, he probably knows his way around promotion.

 

lots of onpage text with the phrase 'football picks' plus lots of the word picks and football seperately (basketball picks) will still help in ranking the page for the 'picks' half of the keyphrase 'football picks'

Presumably lots of relevant IBLs with football picks anchor text too.

There is nothing magical going on here, just well thought out SEO

I went to maketleap.com and didn't see much.

I show 1,198 in Yahoo

5 Google links

 

Also if you put there URL in Google it shows nothing
