A Mexican chain of restaurants is closing to protest. I think there's about 14 of them and they'll end up losing somewhere around $200,000 for the day. But they're going to do it anyway. Oh well, it's back to the food wagon for me! :D

The guys who run the food wagons are mostly illegal Mexicans, yes, but they're not going to shut down to protest and lose a full day's earnings. Only the privilege and wealthy can afford to make vanity protests that achieves nothing.

    - Since when are these types of peaceful protests to be considered "vanity", this type of social awareness has been used since the Boston Tea Party. Everyone needs to be able to voice an opinion, for the sake of everyone's civil liberties.

Since illegal imigrants alone make over 5% of our population plus all the imigrants that do have status in the US, I would think they and the supporters have more than the right to voice an opinion. And I would also add that they are far from the privileged and wealthy as you stated.

You are forgeting one of the strongest traits that the latino culture has, loyalty. This trait creates strong activism within the culture.

Anyway, these city-wide protests have been going on for quite some time, have no idea why Houston is a hotspot for everyone.

I usually get a tamale and a Lime Jarritos. Or sometimes I get three tacos and a Pina Jarritos.

    NOTE TO GRINGOS:
Take the corn shell off before you eat a tamale, unless you really need that much fiber and can digest like a cow.

Pina Jarritos is pretty good although I am partial to the green. Tastes like green pop popsicles

I'm not that brave, just some fresh tacos and burritos is worth the trip to the wagons. I'd eat more but my stomach just can't handle it; too many years of lousy, flavorless "gringo" food. LOL.

A single day of "protest" that will go unnoticed by just about everyone who doesn't eat at their restaurant is considered "social awareness"? I think not. Everyone who eats at their place already agrees with them, so what's the point, if not just to make themselves feel better and appease their guilty conscience, because I'm sure they have their share of illegals working back there for chump change.

Many people that lived during that era looked at the Boston Tea Party and Boston Massacre in different ways. The massacre was an overrated incident that was played-up for political purposes, and the boston tea party would be consider criminal in any aspect--and was.

This is what happens when revolution comes...people start taking things in their own hands.

I believe everyone has a right to free-speech, but we are also a constitutional government. Immigration and naturalization is within the federal jurisdiction, per the constitution, and they are to faithful apply federal laws. They chose not to, and instead of tea we have illegals.

So now it's a case of immigration without American representation. What kind of country are we if we shift our policies in accordance to other countries needs and not our own? Somehow a British-like rule is still among us.

I don't want the normal people to take this in their own hands (in an unlawful manner), but to some level I think if this status quo is the path it's envitable.

    Could be wrong....
