I doubt that Hotmail per se is hacked, it is just an individual account being hacked using social methods as in the case of Palin or key strokes or whatever. Certainly not the main Hotmail servers being hacked. That is something I won't believe. Microsoft does have enough money to put in enough firewalls for Hotmail to be nearly hacked proof.

I suggest -if you haven't already - you download FireFox and get the addon called KeyScrambler, if you have a keylogger then whilst using FF it will just return jibberish!

It is bad news that you can remember your password recovery answers.

I suggest change your to a better anti software such as AVG + Spybot and scan them in safe mode.

Why don't you just track his IP and stab him?

Don't fall for their traps or threats. Try to change all your password and make backups.

I think you need to check your computer for spyware, exploits, etc .. I suggest you download Kasperski (30 day free trial) and run it full scan and makesure no backdoors to router, spyware .. etc

Unless the thread starter is also a presidential candidate and covered heavily by the media, I don't think the two situations can be compared.

Let's face it, a high profile case like that is going to ensure action by the feds with loudmouths like Bill O'Reilly making enough of a fuss too guarantee it got attention. However, a regular person having their email account hacked isn't going to do anything.

Alternative to all above is to install Ubuntu and live in a free world.
