So, on my server, I uploaded some wrestling videos. . . A video site, http://music2.info is showing up on my external hits page with my videos in AWStats. So i go to the videos on their site, and check the source. . and yep, their hotlinking my videos. I emailed them to take them down, if they don't, im going to replace the videos with porn (ha ha, kidding) If they don't take them down, what do I do? I don't want to get rid of the videos, because I have a lot. I could move them, but their on one of my other sites, and it would be a pain to change.

If you have Apache, you can block this kind of thing with .htaccess. Just search for .htaccess and hotlinking, there are heaps of tutorials to help with this.

Using .htaccess doesn't completely stop hotlinking on most media files like videos. The reasons for this is because alot of web users use IE and they are behind in the world and they don't block them even if you are using htaccess or not.

Blocking them using hotlink protection would be the best option. In the short term you should also change the file names. Replace the files they are linking to with an ad video for your site. Get some free advertising!
