Ive got a phproxy 0.4 proxy that's going extremely well in traffic, but like just about every other person who has ever owned a proxy has experienced, I'm having problems with hotlinking, not only images but other sites (such as goodwaiter) delivering proxied pages to web surfers that some how excludes my url_form file from appearing up top on the proxied pages. Now it's easy enough to block the hotlinking, but I don't want to do that, after all why turn away potential customers, what I'm lookng at doing is setting up a modrewrite in the .htaccess file to force every page to show at least one ad spot. A similar idea can be viewed at AListApart here, although in this example it's image files. The issue with phproxy, as opposed to cgiproxy, is that the hotlinked files are rendered index.php?xxxxxxxxxxxxxx etc... so the AListApart example doesn't work (it does with cgiproxy for those of you who use cgiproxy) Can anyone suggest a way of making the AListApart script work with phproxy? or perhaps do you have any suggestions on other ways of implementing ads against hotlinked traffic? thanks.
Sorry, thanks for the suggestion, but that's not what I'm after. I'm not after a basic hotlinking script, I'm not trying to block the hotlinking, but show the hotlinked sites url_form and/or an ad block in the same way the AlistApart script shows text above the image. Anyone else have any ideas?
Hey I have done this to my proxy and I can show you how if you add me to MSN. (it's in my profile) It's easier to explain on there.
