I hotlinked to an image as a test on localhost to see what an advert would look like. What came back was a Google advert in Flash??? How is this possible? Even when I view source, this is what I see: <div class="bottomAdvert"> <h2>JOBS</h2> <img src="http://website/image.jpg" alt="THE JOBS PORTAL ADVERT" /> <!-- .bottomAdvert --></div> HTML: There's not even 1 piece of Javascript on the website and the ad I'm seeing is definitely in Flash, how are they serving this? Is this a potential security issue?
Just a little update. The first thing that sprung to mind was stenography but I don't think this is the case as what's being rendered on the screen is definitely Flash but the file is too small for it to be Flash @ 53.5KB. I decided to view the source of the image, and interestingly I see this: ÿØÿáExifII*ÿìDuckyUÿá+http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/ ÿîAdobedÀÿÛ„ ÿÀôÀÿÄÿ Code (markup): XAP, never heard of it but with it being an Adobe product... I had to have a look at what this was and ended up with this Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Metadata_Platform]Source[/url] So it is possible to embed a Flash code into the Meta Data of your images and display your Google ads instead of a stolen image? Wow...
