Hotfile scamming premium users?Has this happened to you?

Has this happened to you?​

Purchased a premium account for ONE YEAR from HOTFILE and used it for three months before THIS HAPPENS!!!!!

On the 19th of OCT 2009 when I tried to log in to my Hotfile account this is what I saw.

Account suspended
We're sorry to inform you that your account has been suspended. You should've received an e-mail with more information about the situation.
Your account will be activated again at: 	2021-03-17 01:18:43

I immediately sent an e-mail to Hotfile at (support@hotfile.com) and using the contact option on the Hotfile log in page.

2 days later I received the reply given below.

Hello,

We are writing this letter to inform you that your account is suspended due to detected suspicious activities, including, but not limited to:

- Credit card Fraud / Fake payments
- Cheating HotFile downloads
- Sharing premium account information
- Multiple IP downloads
- Hacking attempts
- PayPal investigation

All mentioned activities are in violation of our Terms and Conditions.

We are investigating and monitoring your account and you will be able to use it again if we deciede your case don't violate our Terms of Service. Otherwise your account will remains suspended.

I replied to this mail on the 21st of OCT 2009 with the following.

Dear Sir

As I have not done any of the things stated by you below how long do you think it will take for my account to be reactivated.

1) - Credit card Fraud / Fake payments---------------------Most certainly not card used for purchase is mine
2)- Cheating HotFile downloads--------------Don't know what this means and have certainly not done it.

3)- Sharing premium account information-----------Never done so

4)- Multiple IP downloads----------------Does  this means I can only log in from one place. I can tell you I do travel a lot and log in from a lot of different computers BUT YOU WILL NOT FIND ME LOGGED IN FROM TWO DIFFERENT PLACES AT THE SAME TIME THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE.

5)- Hacking attempts-----------------Do not know how to do this so I'm pretty sure I have not done it.


6)- PayPal investigation----------------IS This is about the money hotfile has to send me and not the other way around

Since then I have not received any response from HOTFILE.


Can anybody tell me if Hotfile is doing this to other Premium users as well so they can keep selling accounts without having to increase server space or band with to accommodate all users.

My money is you got suspended for #4, the multiple IP addresses. You can try explaining that is a professional tone to them with providing examples and the like but if that third email is what you actually sent them, don't expect your account back. If you had remained professional, you may have stood a chance.

Best bet would be to contact your bank and try to get them to reverse the charges.

 

I don't see why the multiple IP'S should be an issue as I have never logged into my Hotfile account from two IP'S simultaneously. I have been using Rapidshare in the same manner for the last 3 years and never had any problems.

And about the mail, That was about the 8th I sent and was at the end of my patience, my mistake but I still can't understand the original suspension and the date given for reactivation is 2021 which is 12 years away.

I'm a webhost. If I see a client logging in from Kenya when they normally log in from some town in the US, I know there's probably an issue. Granted that's an extreme case but that's what they're looking for.

Well I haven't seen the other 7 but considering your response to me, I still hold to my response. "I don't see..." isn't the way to go. Typing in ALL CAPS isn't the way to go.

And you sent 8 emails within 2 days? Why not wait for a response from them? Hell, they probably dropped you into their /dev/null file after the first couple.

Why not wait a day or two, write a decent and professional email. You put one hyphen when it's required. Full sentences with the periods. You go down their list point by point with specifics and explain things. They state the credit card? "I paid on such and such date with my credit card issued from XYZ bank. My transaction number is 123456. I've had this account for x number of years." Different IP addresses? "I accessed my account from xyz on such and such date. I then accessed my account on another date while I was traveling" Paypal? "I'm showing a processed transaction on this date. Here's the transaction number. Paypal has it listed as a correct and processed transaction." Don't sound like a 12 year old.

Maybe with some basic manners, you may get your account back. To be honest, I think it's too late. Reverse the charges and move on.

Looks like its the IP Thing only .. its wierd they arent replying try emailing at the email address you paid too

lol check your pc if its infected witg spyware/trojan backdoores. A hacker might be hacked your account and shared it else where. Hotfile is prompt in dealing with customers. so i hardly think, there is a chance of corruption from their part.

 

A sample of my uploads to Hotfile, the links are still valid and can be downloaded, What I don't understand is if my account has been suspended how is that my uploads still work and who is being credited with the downloads.

I tried logging in from a PC I have never used before and got the same log in (sample given in the post above)page.
Any ideas on how I could get this issue resolved if it is not Hotfile who has blocked my account.

you bought this account directly from hotfile right, i think somebody hacked your acc, and use it without your knowledge, try to explain everything as much you can, ask them what is the real prob?, and try to solve it.

All I get as responses are rude one liners or no reply at all.
