Is it ever a surprise when a filesharing site flops?

Have to hit them hard and heavy right off jump, then expect the flop.

    Please Read:

    Feb 9, 2011

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Five Hollywood studios are suing a website that streams movies, accusing it of copyright infringement on a "massive scale".

Disney Enterprises Inc, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp, Universal City Studios Productions, Columbia Pictures Industries and Warner Bros Entertainment Inc on Tuesday filed suit against Hotfile Corp and Hotfile manager Anton Titov, according to documents filed with the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida Miami Division.

The Hollywood studios say that Panamanian Hotfile actively encourages users to upload and disseminate copyrighted content, and pays them to do so. They say that Hotfile has profited from the arrangement.

"Hotfile profits from this theft by charging a monthly fee to users who download content from its servers. Hotfile also operates an incentive scheme that rewards users for uploading the most popular files -- which are almost exclusively copyrighted works.

Hotfile profits richly while paying nothing to the studios for their stolen content," the Motion Picture Association of America Inc said in a separate statement.

In less than two years of operation, Hotfile has become one of the most heavily-trafficked sites on the Internet, according to the filing.

The studios are seeking damages and injunctive relief, according to the filing.

I never jumped on board the hotfile bandwagon. Back in my file uploading days I considered it, but the conversion rates were always kinda low. Looks like now I'll never be able to. I feel bad for those with suspended accounts making money with hotfile.

^^^ Yep file host that pay really well last 10 to 15 months then fold when they lose money. Just look at Bigandfree they payed really well after 8 weeks of paying a lot of people they also folded. Megaupload has been around many yrs with kick ass service but they do not pay really well. When a file host gets a tone of hits in a really short amount of time like Hotfile they are gonna in trouble same with Rapidshare. We will have to wait and see what happens to HF this could change they way other file host do business

    "This is the end..."

Why so many people buy premium accounts on HotFile? Because this is the main site where uploaders send files.

Why uploaders decided to massively use HotFile? Because HF pays good for each download.

And how these guys get so many downloads and make good money? Uploading music, movie, games, porn... illegally.

They (uploaders) will stop using HF and move to the next file hosting that can pay good, because the only reason they do this is to make money, not to because they like to share files.

Like what happened with Gazup - The rise and fall of Gazup - and others, HF will become just another file hosting with a small traffic within few months. Actually, it is already losing traffic - 7.5% in the last month.

Was that the plan when HF launched the site? No. But at this point they already made so much money that they will walk away smiling.

I heard this news everywhere, but I still can download from Hotfile and my account is fine and not suspended. I think they only suspend people who received DMCA claims
