All rankings are relative to other companies in the industry. As servers and networks improve, the rankings for each company will change. One specific type of server and network setup is not valued at a certain rank, but each is compared relative to current industry standards. This is the main page of our site and contains graphical statistics for each host, including CPU, network speed, memory, hard drive/IO and many other benchmarks. Site Speed Test - We offer a free speed test tool for any visitor to our website. The purpose of this tool is to provide an accurate an unbiased method of measuring the download speed of a file. Coupon Codes - We offer coupon codes that are verified hourly for accuracy and expiration, these are listed for any host we find regardless of affiliate commissions. Companies - A complete list of all of the companies which we benchmark, in the future this page will include a search engine for finding a host as well as more information about hosts packages and locations. Articles - Read some of our articles targeted towards the webhosting industry or explaining features on our site. Statistics - View industry statistics such as commonly used operating systems and processors. Add us! - Here you can add your server to gain access to HostSentry benchmarking! All of this information is available free of charge on our website, however most of the hosts listed are paid for out of our pockets and this is where you come in. HostSentry needs your help to provide accurate and constant data! Some of the larger companies on our leaderboards have hundreds of servers and we are only able to track one of them until more are added. Please help us improve our data by adding your server! Webhosting Customers You do not need to own a server or webhost to help us! Add our script to your shared hosting plan to figure out real information about your host! Find out uptime statistics, speed benchmarks, hardware information and much more directly from our site or your hostsentry script. See where your host ranks on our leaderboards! Our benchmarking takes place directly on your server, unlike other "uptime" services we will know with 100% accuracy when your server is down. Space and bandwidth use are minimum and you can add your server anytime at http://www.hostsentry.net/help-us where a visual cpanel guide is also available. Webhosting Companies What we are asking of hosts is for a free test account on as many servers as you'd be willing to list with us. All that is required is a standard cpanel account with mysql and a small amount of space and bandwidth, the usage would be very low on each account. In return, once our advertising platform for the site is launched (currently anyone may list their banners free with us!) you would earn your hosting company free banner advertising on our site. 25% of all of our banners displayed will be based on how many servers are listed for each host, the more servers, the more your site is displayed. We are not buying or selling webhosting services, we are an informational site about webhosting companies and the industry. It did not seem appropriate in webhost advertising based on the posts there.
Whoops!! That was not intended for this post. Sorry Jason. That was for the 2nd post for that BW guy who keeps advertising in this forum. The post for here...how does it work? Can't find an explanation of the software you install, etc., under the Q&A. Also, I noticed that new accounts are listed (usernames) and what server they're placed on. That's completely unacceptable to us from a security standpoint. Aside from that, might definitely be interested in joining. Thanks!
Hey WSWD, its not a problem at all. Our software and coding is all proprietary and made by us. To simply explain it, all we do is run various commands that any cpanel user on your servers can run to gather and display information. That is correct that usernames are listed, as again that is a very easy thing to do on any cpanel server. If someone was being malicious and had the knowledge required to be malicious online, they could find out the username of domains on your server very easily. We don't believe this would make any difference, since all we do is the most simple part of running a command on the server.
