    Will hosting a uk site, or a site targetted at the uk, on an american server have any effect on seo?

    On a side note, is it a bad idea to do this for loading times etc.

    if you have a UK domain targeted towards global visitors, then hosting on US server is fine. but if you are targeting UK visitors, then local host will work better for geo targeted SEO

    Agreed...if you are targeting a specific country, it definitely helps to host your website in that country. You will be at a disadvantage if you try to compete with hosting in a different country.
