    hi

i m a high school student trying to make a website

my dad is being really careful about everything so we dont get into trouble

because i m paying all the money for my little internet project, i choosed a really cheap hosting plan

i m going to use Joomla! so i need php and mysql on apache.

I found DreamHost.com and they have a plan for 8 bucks a month but i have a coupon that subtracts some cost so i only have to pay 20 bucks for a year of hosting

But my dad's worrying about recurring bills. I read the contract

At the end of the contract term, the contract will automatically renew for successive thirty (30) day periods (or three (3) or six (6) or twelve (12) or twenty-four (24) month periods, depending on length of pre-payment) indefinitely until canceled in writing or via the web panel. After the first 97 days a canceled account will be canceled before the next payment is due and no more billing will occur nor will any payment be refunded, even for unused portions.

does this mean i could terminate the service before they start billing us for big bucks?

sorry i m really new to this and i m looking forward to learn a lot from you guys.

P.S I am able to transfer all my stuff to another hosting site after i m done with this host right?

yes you are correct on both points.
Just be sure and backup and download before you cancel the plan.

A lot of banks now offer one time use credit card numbers -- my bank calls them Virtual Account Numbers. If you have the option, use one of those. Your dad will sleep better at night.
Also, DreamHost is pretty reputable. You shouldn't have any trouble with them.
