    Hi,

    I am starting a new forum, 0 users, 0 PR, 0 backlinks.. 0 everything.

I have a shared dreamhost account but I am not satisfied. I want a web hosting suggestion.. something under $50 per month but let's say.. to be able to host a forum with 5000 unique visitors per day without any problem.

A VPS would be enough ?

Some coupons would be nice if you have.

    Thanks

a VPS would be more than enough but if you are estimating the forum will start getting 5k UVs per day on start, you really have to rethink everything. It's not easy making a forum that popular unless you spend a few hundred to a few thousand in advertising per month getting you thousands of UVs per day

do you have any space or bandwidth requirements? and what kind of a forum would it be?

Your going to need a VPS for those traffic stats, I would recommend GeekStorage or WiredTree.

Dont jump to a VPS so soon. Forums dont grow as fast as you think. Start with shared hosting first and then upgrade.

At least a high end VPS may suit your needs. A best solution is to get a dedicated. I suggest you start from shared hosting or VPS first.

i agree don't go with a vps till you need to start with a small shared plan and grow when you need to find a reliable host and start there small

I had a few websites started on shared.. in few months my traffic was more than 5000 visitors per day.. database was pretty big.. and that's why I am thinking to VPS or dedicate.

That is a good approach I have to admit. At the same time can you name your needs and budget to work on the solution to help you. We have some, just need to specify what your current needs.

ha ha..join the club, Dreamhost or I called them DeadHost or DyingHost.

since their support is via emails, they ignored all my emails and customer service sucks.
Their cpanel does not work well
The unlimited bandwidth and space is bogus, they will cut you off.
I moved all my sites within 6 mths.

I am happy with hosting that have live phone support...so much better.

I have no idea why users go to DH !!!

another point is DH does not support video you tube like scripts.

This is the email I got from DH or DeadHost or DyingHost:

    Hello,

This is just a note to let you know your DreamHost account has been
disabled for violation of our Terms of Service listed here:

    http://www.dreamhost.com/tos.html

Specifically, section 8 of Material Products, "Customer agrees to not
engage in activities pertaining to Black Hat SEO, Spamdexing, and so-
called "Scraper sites." These can all have a severely detrimental
effect on server performance and are not permitted."

As such, we have now closed your account effective immediately and
refunded all your money. It should show back up on your credit card
    within 3-4 busines days.

Please do not attempt to sign up for service with DreamHost again in
    the future.

    ***********************************************

I am not an IT savvy and I only have 5 sites.
I email them for more info what I did wrong
Well, all my emails went unanswered.

They do not even have the courtesy to explain to me or give me an opportunity to have my sites up until I transfer.

Lesson learned---get a hosting company that has a live person support.

Why would anyone host at DH is beyond me?

I would recommend a VPS or a small dedicated server. Check webhostingtalk for reviews.
