Is it reasonable to have a dedicated HOSTING section at DP. I know there are Domain Names and HTML & Website Design where people post questions about hosting but no dedicated one...
If you had a server question you could post it here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18
amen, but you would also get 10 million of the same questions. "Which host do you think i should go for?"
yep example:Cheap,Cheap 50mb hosting for only $30 a month. www.cheapcheaphostingservicesindia.freenet.com
Agree, a hosting forum is needed because the server forum is more likely for VPS and dedicated services, people who can tweak the server settings. True, such forum may cause spam-a-ton, but volunteers chosen from reputable DP members may help if moderators need them.
I still don't get the benefit...Every single thread where people ask for a good host (without giving any specifics on what they require of course) it gets quickly filled with people selling their own services. What benefit does that provide?
And what's the benefit of three sections General Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Link Development where 1 of 5 questions are 'Backlinks or Reciprocal links?' or 'How do I get backlinks?' Browsing them you can see 6+ identical threads a day! However no one asks if there is any benefit
Because those fields are always changing and developing. If the only question that would be asked in a "Hosting" section is "Suggest a Good Host", you could take care of it with one thread.
Would be a great idea. Keep everyone is one place presenting there hosting options. I just posted a request for hosting options since some of the previous post I saw had outdated provideds
I think so, too. And I believe that with the new infraction system, it should be fairly easy to keep things in line. It seems to work quite well in the directories categories.
What would be in a hosting section besides people buying/selling or wanting recommendations of hosting services? As it is now, there's already a Buy/Sell/Trade -> Services section for that... and there's a Site/Server Admin section for the technical side of hosting.
There are so many hosting packages and types. Where to host Internet shops, blogs, forums, etc. Also there is hosting with online site builders. All these hosting companies always promise so much, how to choose which one really works? I assume there is much to discuss...
I see so may strange comments in this thread. Are you people saying that http://www.webhostingtalk.com is useless ?
