    Hello DPers,

I need some help on the difference between a hosting reseller plan and a hosting shared plan? What are the differences? Reseller is more expensive though....

    Thanks alot~

Reseller hosting is a form of web hosting wherein the account owner has the ability to use his/her allotted hard drive space and bandwidth to host websites on behalf of third parties. The reseller purchases the host's services wholesale and then sells them to customers for a profit.

A shared web hosting service or virtual hosting service or derive host refers to a web hosting service where many websites reside on one web server connected to the Internet. Each site "sits" on its own partition, or section/place on the server to keep it separate from other sites.

Shared Hosting : You can host more than one website but cant resell space also you will have same control panel for all websites.

Reseller Hosting : You can host more than one website and can resell web space to your clients. Everyone will get separate control panel to manage their hosting account.

If you are setting up sites for clients it will be easier for you to use a reseller account because you can setup separate cPanel accounts for each client.

You can go for Reseller if you want a seperate account for each of the site, or if you want to sell space to your clients, friends, family, etc...

Even you can create new FTP accounts for each addon domain on shared hosting, however all clients will have same control panel (cPAnel/WHM) access if they ask for control panel. So I would recommend you to go for reseller hosting if you want to give control panel access to your clients.

Control Panel (cPanel/WHM) : Control Panel (cPanel/WHM) is used to manage websites, email accounts, FTP accounts, databases and many more features needed for your website.
