So i was registering a domain with Godaddy today until i realized that most of the hosting company offer a free domain upon registration. Are there any drawbacks from registering the domain with the hosting provider for free, i am using justhost.com, instead of using sites like GoDaddy or Namecheap.

Will i be able to transfer the domain in the future? or replace it with another?

You should have no problems transferring your domain after your done with that hosting company, but that domain is only free while you're with them.

As the name insists free domains are easy to get but at same time those domains can drain of one day and all your efforts in marketing, etc gets wasted. Always try to find a better solution to make your website popular. Opt for good domain names with better and premium quality domain registrars.

I always prefer to register my domains with Godaddy or Namecheap and I don't use free domains that web hosting providers like Hostgator or Bluehost offer. The advantage is that if you have your domain registered with a domain registrar like Godaddy and you need to change hosting, you will just change the DNS nameservers of your domain and you don't have to pay any domain transfer fees.

There shouldn't be any transfer fees. You will just have to purchase the domain for a new year with your domain registrar. The only cost of going somewhere else should be 1 year renewal cost for the domain name.

As somebody already said, I would absolutely NOT use the host's free domain name. If you decide to leave their hosting, there are many hosts (especially those offering free domains) who will hold your domain hostage (since they paid for it) and will not give it back to you. You should always register your domain with somebody like Godaddy and just change the nameservers to point to your host.

If you ask me, I am happy with Hostdepot.com web host. I bought shared hosting account and got free domain name along with many useful free bonuses.
Frankly speaking, I have never used such a reliable and stable web hosting services along with helpful customer support. Will recommend them to all of my friends.

Right, such freely offered domain is valid till you use their hosting services, you will have to pay applicable transfer fees if you want to move away from them or will have to pay the renewal fees if you just want to keep the domain registry with them. It's always recommended to go through the TOS of webhosting provider before you signup for hosting services.
It's also recommended to have a domain registrar different from your hosting service provider.

Transfer fees would be the regular price of the domain registration :) And about free domain it mostly depends on the TOS of the companies. Most of the hosting providers give this benefit on yearly based packages.
