    One of my web hosts goes down from time to time - Maybe once or twice a month for anytime from a few minutes to up to an hour. These are usually to either update something or check something. It a miniscule amount of time and I probably only know because of my downtime monitoring. I have two questions though

    1.) Is this acceptable or at least is it a necesary evil with all hosts?

    2.) Should I be pushing the fact that they should be emailing me about scheduled downtime? It would save me emailing them to complain each time.

    Like I said, it probably amounts to around 5-20 minutes a month but I always seem to catch it.
