I have just purchased hosting plan from hostable.com. according to their ad on their web site they were offering unlimited hosting space with unlimited bandwidth for 3 years for just $0.99. After parking my domain name on that hosting service company. they send me an email that they have just changed the plan and it is only valid for 3 month only. What to do such a cheat hosting company ? Kindly guide us in this matter.
Hi, There probably isn't a lot you can do to be honest, they probably have in their smallprint somewhere something along the lines of "we reserve the right to change a package or terms at any given time without notice". Which will let them do what they want. Best bet is to move elsewhere, and ditch them and cut your losses. At the end of the day, it's only $0.99
The good news is it doesn't seem like you are out much money. The bad news is most hosts try to push all this unlimited stuff that is really not unlimited. They have to pay for it, they just hope their users don't use enough of it that they have to pay extra. There is no such thing as unlimited in the hosting world. Most people don't use that much so hosts have been pushing all this unlimited stuff. When a few do push the limits they either suspend them, or want to charge them more. But at 99 cents you really can't expect much. What can you buy for that rate.
Why anyone would sign up with a host with no physical address on their web site is beyond me. Anyway. What they did wouldn't be allowed in the UK and would get them in trouble with trading standards and the Office of Fair Trading, but what happens for you will depend upon the law in the state that the contract exists. In the UK, you cannot change a contract to the detriment of a customer unless you also give them the right to cancel the agreement before the change takes place AND provide a pro-rated refund of any upfront fees at the time of cancellation. Immediate changes of contract to their detriment wouldn't be allowed and you would be expected to provide them with a reasonable notice of the changes - probably be at least 30 days notice. They're still advertising the deal on their site, so they have lied to you. Irrespective, do you really want to deal with a company who act in such a way? It should be ringing warning bells and you should retreat - fast - in the opposite direction rather than attempt to sort anything out.
Are you sure you are reading the notice right? I read on another post that they changed the RENEWAL term to 3 months (from 3 years) so that at the end of the three free years you are only automatically renewed for three months (if you don't cancel). Please re-read the notice you received and post again, one way or the other. If they really are changing the deal, you should call them out on it. If you misread their notice and called them a cheat for no reason, I think you owe them a big apology.
