Buying Hosting must be at least 2 years old

    Hello guys!

I'm currently looking for shared hosting and I need some advice on which are the best. :) I'm not really looking for individual offers but more for advice from your experience.

I need them to have about 100 gb of space, 1 - 2 TB BW, databases, to allow addon domains and to be at least 2 years old.

The problem is that I don't know which of them are reliable.... I need the uptime to be great and the server load to be low. These 2 are major priorities.

I usually buy hosting for 1 year or more and pay upfront but I often either get scammed and after 6 or 7 months the host goes bankrupt and shuts down or the server load and uptime becomes so bad that I move out. I don't like to change hosts but I don't have any choice.

    Thanks,
    Vlad

I cannot think of one single company that advertises 100GB of space and 1-2TB of bandwidth and has been around longer then a few months.

Your best bet is to get unmetered space/bandwidth from a place like hostnine, granted, you are still limited, it's just a matter of time before they boot you when you hit this magical limits.

I've been receiving a lot of offers ranging from $20 to $40 / month for hosting plans that don't even cover my needs .... Guys... I wasn't born yesterday.... The largest company in the business (IMHO is HostGator) with a lot of years on the market has unlimited plans with under $10/month...

As I said in my first post I'm mainly looking for advice on your past experience with hosts but I will consider genuine offers.

    vlad,
Your requirements merit atleast a big VPS. Hostgator offers unlimited, but try using it without going over the CPU limits.

I would suggest a small dedicated server. Other than that you are just going to find hosts which shut down in months or hosts which kick you out in a few months.

Sorry to break it to you but 'unlimited' is a big myth. Read HostGator's fair usage policy on their ToS. All servers have disk space. This means anyone offering 'unlimited' is overselling. If you see someone offering 'unlimited', run a mile. The server load will be incredibly high, and if you use more than your 'fair share' of the server you'll have your account terminated. If you want 100GB Disk Space and 1/2 TB bandwidth your only option is buying a dedicated server. Shared hosting just simply won't handle that kind of quota. Company's may claim to but really they're just taking BS to win the sale :).

You will hit those magical limits eventually, if you really need that much space, get a VPS, or Dedicated server.

Dude, I know that everything is limited... I just said unlimited because that's what they call it....

I always thought I had to switch to VPS only when I go over the 10,000 visitors/day limit. I guess I might have been wrong?

What you pay is what you get. Don't expect a host to provide you the resources for couple of bucks they rent for couple of hundred bucks. They are here to make money.

    Happy hunting ;)

You have a lot to learn mate. For the bandwidth you are looking for you will need to spend at least $100/month. The visitors do not matter. I can have 10,000 visitors on shared hosting, but then sometimes i would need a vps for 4,000 visitors. It really depends on what kind of website you have and what they do on it.
