Hosting for Dummies! Written By: Oninuva In this article I will teach you how to pick the best hosting plan that fits for you. 1. Have you ever seen those ads? "Unlimited Space! Unlimied Bandwith! 19.99 a month!" Do they sound too good to be true? If it does X it out now. Don't even think about getting it. If it don't sound too good to be true then... go burn your money. Samples of these "money burners" 80 Gigs Storage! 100,000 GiG Bandwith! All for the low price of 5.00 Unlimited Everything! All for 19.99 a month! 2. Chose one with support. If you think you are gonna need it alot then pay for a host that has live support. If you know your way around and such then 24/7 Email support would be great. 3. Never Ever Register your Domain with your host. They usealy charge more and if anything goes wrong which I hope it does not they most likely keep the domain. So I suggest you register your domains at Name Cheap Enom GoDaddy 4. Research Research Research. Reseach the host first. Read some reviews or testimonials. These are important. Can save you alot of time bounceing from host to host. 5. Don't buy hosting at a forum. Do not buy hosting if they are at a forum or ebay. they are cheaper but are un-professional if they have to get to those means to sell hosting. If they arent that desperate a link would do. 6. If you are opening a forum or CMS or a site using a script look for a host that supports MySQL. If they don't don't even consider it. Mosts hosts support MySQL and PHP now so not much of a problem. Point 3 is a gross generalisation. A lot of hosting companies are resellers of eNom etc., and offer better pricing than eNom
This article is not acurate at all. I have 3 hosting services for less than $10 a month with over 20GB webspace (one with 86GB) and lots of bandwith running since more than a year or so with no problems or "burn out" Another of my domains is hosted in an unlimited plan for $25 a year since early this year and I have never got a message about exceeding traffic or webspace in there. On the other hand, I have 2 or 3 domains purchased below $8 USD a year with hosting included for the same period and renewable at the same low price, including my whois intact. In domains and hosting matters we cannot generalize
Informative, but Not necessarily true, eBay is just another medium to reach out to potential buyers. Ideally hosting auctions on eBay must link to the host's official website.
