Hosting for Adult sites

Recently had 3 requests for adult sites, not done these before but would like some advice from anyone who has designed / created these type of sites before

Do all hosting companies allow adult content on their sites ?

Currently with 1and1.co.uk and am hoping that adult content is ok for them to host I see they do not allow search marketting for adult sites but assume them and others allow adult sites to be hosted with them

Any legal issues that people know about doing sites with adult content ?

I assume linking to these sites is not a desireable for testimonials / portfolio pages

    Thanks

Most web hosting companies avoid hosting adult websites. The truth is that it is not prestigious at all. But all depends of the websites and of the class hosting you need.

been looking into this and there are a few uk based hosting companies and many US companies that allow escort services on their servers
Not prestigious maybe but its the oldest business (and one of the biggest) in the world and a big driver of new technology on the net

Most of the time it's because of the large server load such sites cause also.

Hosting companies tend to avoid adult content, but you should be able to find some decent ones. Try googling for "cheap adult hosting" or something like that, and it may lead you to some companies that do accept adult content. I don't see what could be bad there for you as designer, though I wouldn't put it in portfolio if I were you :D

here is my opinion on this question. Most web hosting companies have a disclosure in their TOS but this does not mean they will not host the site. I think they prefer not to but business is business, they want your money so with this said, try bluehost or some other company providing shared hosting and see what happens. Also, talk to their sales staff and see if they are lenient about it.

However, keep in mind adult site or not, once they see you are using tons of resources they will shut you down and recommend a dedi server.
