Hello, well first of all, i'm a beginner, i created a few designs before with photoshop, but i didn't spend to much time on it, so i still have A LOT to learn. Since i switched to Linux Mint i'm using GIMP and i'm starting to play around with design once more, i hope i stick to it this time. Please don't judge GIMP based on my "talents", any advice, comments are welcome, thanks..
The text is a bit annoying to read in my opinion, and the color scheme could do with a little less blue. Otherwise, it's pretty good.
Possibly work on your color scheme a little. Also maybe those gradients could be a little more subtle. The font woudlnt work well in the browser. I think you have a good solid layout just a little tweaking would do good.
A bit too much of the blue for me. Otherwise I think you are talented, keep making new designs. I actually am a GIMP user as well here is one of my designs I created a few years ago, http://gimpforums.com/thread-web-design-i-once-did-in-gimp
Definitely put a bit more thought into the padding / spacing / font choice, because it's looking a bit like you've just slapped down the same old font everywhere with a little bit of resizing. You'll absolutely want to put some padding inside some of those text blocks, too.
The same here. I found the layout good, but work on the color scheme and the font. The text is not readable, otherwise I like it. Keep up the good work
You need to work on everything except for the layout. Here's a list of things you can improve upon: - Colour scheme is an eyesore. http://www.colorschemedesigner.com/ & http://kuler.adobe.com/ are your friends - Upper boxes have a blurry feel while the lower ones are sharp. No consistency. - Black on a dark-ish background. Lack of contrast. Readers won't read the content and leave. Choose a lighter variation of blue for the background. - Footer text is too big. - Work on the padding in the boxes. Hope this helps. I'm just being brutally honest. I hope you take criticism well. It only helps you improve.
Nice job on your first website design, but definitely work on the color scheme and organizing the content area. There needs to be a clear hierarchy in terms of where users should be directed to first by use of header size, font, color, etc. Look for examples of great design on Google so you know what it looks like
