Web Hosting is a very competitive industry. Before taking the plunge into dedicated servers, you need to make sure that you are comfortable with the technical aspects, the maintenance as well as the sales aspects. I would recommend trying out a reseller account, get the hang of web hosting sales and the overall market first before getting any dedicated servers.
I have to agree with wisdomtool... A couple of years back I was in the same situation. In the end, I settled for a reseller account that was a one time upfront fee of $50 (no monthly costs). From there on I just sell their products & take commission without too much hassle at all. I now have 40 domains on the account and just now I am looking into getting a dedicated server (costs permitting of course)..
try first to be a reseller you will catch the knolege ,after this and after 50 customers try to buy a server
Yes, agreed with the above posts. The competitive nature of the industry means that unless you have significant brand strength and a pool of ready sign-ups, it could be tough to get sign-ups. The one area you could compete in is providing site hosting to specific niche areas (for example you have some hosts dedicated to internet marketers which is a big unique selling point).
