I was having difficulties paying for my hosting with hostgator last month, so I moved my sites and primary domain to http://eatld.com I've known him for a year so i had no doubts. I pushed the domain there and everything was fine for the first month except for the one program he promised he was getting. Well he got it and screwed me over so I told him i wanted it fixed or i was going back to hostgator well he flipped deleted all my files and me off the server. Well now im back with hostgator but he wont push my main domain back.

    What do I do?

Thats why always trust ICANN accredited registrars only. IF you have such issues they can mediate.

Never use your host as a registrar, never put the domain in their name. I don't even know why you would do this? You should have just changed the DNS - there is no need to push a domain.

I had hostgator as my registrar and they pushed it to EATLD without problem but now that dork who actually happens to be banned here on dp wont give me my domain back because I asked him to fix a problem with my servers and stuff. So I went back to hostgator but my primary domain is the same as the one he wont let me have back and I don't feel like spending the $5 to change the primary although its only $5 its the fact that I shouldn't have to.

You should not have given him control of your domain namein the first place.
Buy domains at a reliable registrar (and I dont mean NoDaddy oops GoDaddy)
    Try namecheap.com.
Then all you do is log into the account you have with the registrar and change
the DNS names your self and you point them to whatever ns1 and ns2 you host has.

ALWAYS keep control of your domain names - NEVER EVER let someone else buy them for you.

To me it means that you were never owner of that registered domain! because if you were owner then HostGator.com have no rights to stole your web domain name in any matter! Have you got the domain name in any promotional scheme....

from what I read, he push it away from hostgator onto another, he gave his cpanel register access for
help, and the person changed his password, and took the domain. If I read this correctly.

The problem isn't with hostgator its with EATLD.COM the domain was pushed to that company and then I was given an account where I can edit the dns and etc. However after he deleted my account he locked the domain and put his company as the registar I contacted Icann and I got the domain back last night.

quite right. This is such basic common sense, you have to wonder how even a newbie could be unaware of it. NEVER host your site at the same place where you registered it. There's a thread like this on some forum every day of the year and all of them could be avoided if you simply never host your site at the same place where you registered it

It's also a very good reason to stay right away from those hosts who offer 'a free domain with every hosting package'. You get a problem with them, you've lost the lot.

Set the facts the owner of the name was brent oxley hostgator they owned the domain and not the client they gave it to us and we paid 2 fees a renewal fee and a transfer fee to get it.

I told him he can have it back if he pays those two fees that we paid to get it.

We never said that we hijacked his domain.

As to us "screwing him over"

    1. It was a free shared account he didnt pay anything as we allowed him to have a free account in exchange for his volunteer admin services at http://www.peerhut.com we even gave him a free phone line with unlimited calling and attempted to send him $60.00 via western union to help get some food in him since he is struggling at the moment with no power in his house.

We were installing plesk site builder on the whole server and I told him after we were done that we would need to read the plesk docs on getting his sites that came from hostgators plesk sitebuilder into the system and that it shouldnt be hard to do.

Now regardless He wanted to go back hostgator and what can we say you cant please everyone even though we made an special exception to him trying to give him a leg up in this world.

BUT THAT IS THE PROBLEM IN TODAYS WORLD WHEN YOU TRY TO HELP SOMEONE OUT THEY GO AND POST CRAP LIKE THIS.

So mods please close this thread and if you keep it open fine, But please stop bad mouthing my company.

As to this comment he did not contact icann and get it back we gladly pushed it to him. HE NEEDS TO TELL THE TRUTH.

The domain is back in my possession and I did contact Icann the emailed response is still in my inbox for proof. Secondly this post was made two days before you finally agreed to push the domain back to hostgator and I never commented back in this topic due to the fact that I didn't want to bump it and I havent been on dp in a few days.

The problem is corrected and the original post was made before everything was solved and out of fustration.

    Thank you for your response,

Just remember even know some people are fustrated for whatever reason it does not justice posting out of fustration as it does not look good on you as it makes you out to look like a liar and not trustworthy. and it makes the other person look bad and they have to waste time setting it straight.

    Appology accepted.

Can you asked the mods to close this thread.
