    Hey all,

I'm currently running on a shared account with my (related) websites and since I get more and more complaints about speed I was thinking about upgrading.

From all I read the most logical next step would be VPS but I have a few questions about that.

I have been looking arround and found that VPS hosting really does not have to cost that much. At least not from what I expected it to be.

    But:

    1) Do I have to be an expert to be able to host my sites?
    2) I have 3 websites one is my commercial site and attracts about 100 unique vistors a day with about 15k pagviews a month. My goal is to double this in approximately 6 months. Another with a directory with links to related websites in my niche. Not a very busy site but generates links to the first site. And the third will become a DYI site with video tutorials and tips and tricks related to the main site. I expect to receive approximately 100 to 150 unique users in about six months and grow to about 250 in a year to that site. In total I expect to use 40 to 60 GB monthly transfer.

does this call for a VPS solution or would you advice me to use the shared I'm using now or something different?

    3) Will 1 IP address be enough or (and may be way off here because I'm not sure I understand this correct) should I use a different IP for every website to not get trouble with the sites linking to eachother...If I'm way off please explain why I would want more than 1 IP

    4) Thanks for your time and advice

    Danny

    You dont need a VPS!

Checkout http://www.hostingrebate.net, its a site of a friend of mine. He is offering a nice rebate for new hostgator customers. i hear they are good.
You can host unlimeted sites there with the 9.95 plan, only $0.01 first month too.

I think instead of VPS go for reseller account as you have only 3 sites and traffic also not much. reseller account would be much more cheaper then VPS.

You don't need to be expert to host your sites if you will try you can learn basic things which are easy.

You will not be in any trouble if your sites are linking with each other. If you want to go for diffrent ip go for diffrent class C IP.
you only need diffrent class C IP if you want to show google that your website are hosted on diffrent server which is good in SEO

when hosts offer multiple IP's is it possible to get them in different C-classes or do I need to host the other sites at different hosts?

    Thanks

You can ask your host but its bit difficult to get Class C IP from single host.

I think you are better off with a reseller account (shared) if server administration is alien to you. This will give you flexibility on the amount of bandwidth and disk space you need and you dont have to worry managing and updating the server.

You dont probably need 1 IP for each but I am sure you can buy one from your hosts at an additional fee.

    Hope this helps.
