Hosting 2 domains on same account...

    I have a hosting account that allows numerous domains to be hosted. My main site that is hosted is concentrated on one keyword.

    I am wanting to add another domain name to my hosting account. Will this effect my SEO in anyway. How about my relevancy.

    The second website will have nothing to do with my primary hosted account.

    When you add domain name to the hosting account, it puts the directory in www.seconddomain.maindomain.com

    You might have hundreds of sites on your same IP. It really doesn't make much of a difference unless the other sites are very bad neighbors. Try this

    http://whois.domaintools.com/yourdomain.com

    That will tell you if your IP has any other sites.

    Adding new domains to your account will make no difference unless you start interlinking them. Go ahead, make a few hundred sites.

    Interlinking on same IPs matter...but not too much as some seo people claim

    You will need a hosting account with atleast 2 add-on domains. Once you have that, everything is fine

    I myself have several sites on the same IP and they are working fine :)

    Just make sure you don't link to irrelevant pages regardless of same or different IP.

    I don't think adding another domain to your existing hosting account would have any effect on the site's SEO unless you interlink those sites heavily. It might have some bearing on your site if other sites with whom you are sharing the server indulge in unethical seo practices.

    I have more than 30 and in fact planning to have more than 200 on the same server!

    I am also planning to link the sites! Lets assume that i have one site called phpnews.com and phpblogs.com. In that case, can i link each other? Any effect?

    Note that i will do the same for other sites. I want my users find other related sites and of course transfer some PR.. But as i said the site topics perfectly matches. What do you think?

    Sites on the same ip do not matter unless you have an insane amount. My site www.onlinemarketingadvisors.com ranks very well for seattle website design company and 90% of the links come from my directory which is on the same ip. So I think you will be fine even if you inter link the 2.
