I usually do not like to write any negative comments about anything or any person. But sometimes things go so worse that one feels so much neglected. And I would surely not want anybody else to go through this.. If you believe in my reputation numbers at digital point forums then I would certainly not recommend Hostican or VPSnext Hosting. Never ever go for these as it would be worse host service ever. Two of my VPS containers are down from last 3 days and no reply to mails nor chat and no reply in their forums too : watch out this thread : http://forum.hostican.com/virtual-private-servers-VPS-f9/where-is-hostican-support-t2829/ It taking more than 48 hours to just switch on the container. Even if its a load problem, after I changed the nameservers they should be able to switch it ON. How long can somebody wait in such situation. So Hostican : Poor support : Poor communication : Poor Servers Abhilash.
Thank you Abhilash. I am sorry about your personal experience with HostICan. Neither I nor any of my clients have experienced anything like what you write. With any host...if you have high load errors...they have to suspend you so as not to further disrupt others on the server. If you continue than if is further shut off. When you have large sites, such as yours, it is a good idea to move to a dedicated server. I have had a wonderful experience with HostICan. I always get through to a support tech - they are polite and helpful. I have never had any communication problems...sometimes the problem is not in the support but in the way the customer approaches the problem. I have always had extremely fast speed and have never noticed any downtime. One of my customer's noticed downtime...but it was only about 10 minutes. Not a big deal. Everyone has there own experience I guess, but it is always best to tell the whole story...no one really knows how the situation really happened with you Abhilash.
Wow! Talk about shoot the messenger. Perhaps the post does not reflect all that has transpired, however that should not negate the value of his post or his opinion after his own experience. It certainly doesn't warrant such a patronising response. Especially when he has a 100% positive reputation in this forum, from fellow members, after 65 votes and 1,074 posts, compared to your 1 post.
I totally understand where you are coming from. I had seen his posts elsewhere on forums and just had to respond this time. Couldn't help it. My response may have come out the wrong way. I do know for a fact that many people are suspended for a fault of their own...they are warned but continue. Sometimes it is as simple as upgrading because your site has gotten so large. It's just that I can not fathom that a host would shut someone off and not respond. It would not be in their best interest. Specifically speaking..HostICan is not a fly-by-night host...so they have a rep to hold up. Oh well, guess I will never know what happened.
I can only find 3 posts for you "out there in cyberspace" and all of them are endorsing HostICan. You must be a dream customer... you have no other interests, you just want to sing their praises. And you pay them! You might be Cloud016 but I bet they're on Cloud009!
Customers must have a space to voice any disappointed of any service they are paying for. One thing I took of some hosts is that they are not caring enough for their customers to reach out to them whenever there are problem. For example, if a certain client is exceedingly using resources allowed, then there should be an open communication on such important matter between the two parties rather than just having a snub type of policy. This kind of bad policy is what makes a lot of hosting companies getting a lot of black eyes in the eyes of customers. We pay them and we deserve to know everything every step of the way. You might not agree fully with me but just ask any annoyed customer and he will probably tell you this same thing.
And ask anyone who has had a rogue script on their server which has been brought to their attention by their host and they are hugely grateful. Most are unaware there is a problem and will fix things quickly.
Well, that is certainly way too much time. I am surprised you waited that much with them. I see that your thread has been deleted from their forum. You might want to review them on other hosting forums. Did they give you any compensation for the downtime?? They should at least give you refund for 1 month. Personally, I wouldn't wait for over an hour. You seem to have lots of patience.
lol, I read this thread after long time. Was busy with other serious stuff. But I had a good laugh after I read the response especially from cloud016. No doubt he is an hostican agent /employee. But what I was really happy about was the way the members here judged who was right and who was wrong. Yes, it was certainly not my fault or any load problem as the sites are running fine on other VPS hosts with no problem at all. I shifted one to wiredtree and another to linode. And would like to say that I am very happy with both of these. Certainly highly recommended. Wiredtree give me reply within 15 minutes to tickets and thats simply great. Linode is not managed service but I managed to get everything done myself with no problems at all. I did ask Hostican to refund the money for the rest of the term as I paid for three months. They didn't do that instead they asked me to remove my post in DP. Well I am in no mood to do so. This post will help others to decide which host to go for..or atleast which one NOT TO GO FOR.. Also take note that VPSnext and hostican seems same owners... And they have even deleted my thread on their forum. Very bad thing. Anyways, its experience. And a message to Cloud016 - "I am at DP from Sep 2005" Where were you that time? at School Note: another thread about Hostican: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=490122
If they really want it gone they just have to get their lawyer to send the paperwork in. Until then there is no reason for the thread to be deleted, it's a valid customer experience.
Good to see that webmasters share their experience. It will help others because a lot of people search for something like "comany name + review" before placing the order.
