I'm about to switch from HostGator - they take multiple hours, sometimes even a full day to respond to support tickets.
I have tried hostgator and It is great (I've been in shared hosting package), at least I was never have any problem with them. I've also tried godaddy, it's almost 1 year ago. But their support for hosting ill-mannered (I know not all of them, but the one who tried to help me was). Within hours I left them and change to another webhost lol.. For domain I never had any problem with them.
IMHO as a domain register the Godaddy is the best. I'm with them since 2001. They are not really good as a hosting provider, their control panel drives me crazy. I like very much the HostGator, I've been in shared linux hosting since 2007. Great support and performance. I would like to add that I had HostMonster, BlueHost, DreamHost before and the HostGator is the favorite one.
I use both. Hostgator by far is killing Go Daddy when it comes to hosting. Think about it like this. When a company dedicates itself to one thing like Hostgator does for just hosting, you become the best at it. Go Daddy is trying to be everything to everyone. Make sure you do not host your domain name and your website with the same company. In other words, I buy domains with Go Daddy but I host them with Hostgator. I hope this helps you out. Back to my sun tan.
HostGator (for Hosting) is anytime better than GoDaddy whose core business is probably domain registration. I have tried at least 6-7 hosting shared services in the past and found HostGator the best. Their customer support and overall uptime is excellent
I use Godaddy for domains and Hostgator for hosting. Never had a single problem with Hostgator in over 4 years.
Here's something to help you decide why not to use Godaddy, especially after they have totally blown off the latest hacks as not their problem or their responsibility: http://smackdown.blogsblogsblogs.co...-godaddy-might-want-to-rethink-that-decision/ -- http://www.articulayers.com/2010/02/dont-trust-godaddy/ Hostmonster is the best shared server host I have used in the past 5 years.
Just my 2 cents worth. I don't know how, but I really managed to screw up reregistering my main domain name, meaning that it became invisible. I have spent over 4 hours during the last 3 days on Hostgator's live support chat trying to get it sorted. The guys at Hostgator have been polite (even when they realised they were dealing with a moron), ultra helpful, and patient. Today they have managed to sort the problem, so to answer your question - It's Hostgator
Out of the two companies you have suggested, Hostgator is better for actual web hosting and GoDaddy is better for domain registration. However if you're looking for the best hosting, PM me and I can sort you out a plan with unimited everything for £2 a month with super fast servers.
This. I haven't checked in awhile now re: Godaddy, but they should be better off selling domains instead.
Use Godaddy for domains. Use JaguarPC for hosting. I used Hostgator before and had nothing but problems.
Hostgator is fine i havent tried godady yet. Got an account with bluehost too for 2 years now.. seems stable to me
beware of hostgator. You may see signs of them hiring but can cost you greatly in life. They will hire you to only dismiss you. This company is racist and do not care about their employees. They also lie to their customers telling you that they are currently looking or researching this issue, but in reality the agent is talking to his/her higher-up coworkers in order for them to solve issue. So technically speaking the user will never ever get to speak with anyone higher-up, but to only be lied to.
