    Hi,

For years i have hosted with Hostgator and had my doamins with godaddy. I was renewing some domanis and i notice godaddy now offer 4th generation hoting over multiple servers.

My hostagtor account is up at the end of the month and i am thinking about moving as the costs are similar. even though i am comparing the baby croc package with the godaddy 4th Generation Hosting (I believe hostgator is classed as 2nd generation hosting)

    Here are a few questions

Has anyone moved over and if so how was the move?
do they assist you in moving over the exitsting sites?
how is thegodaddy tech support ( hostgator support has always been fantastic when i have called)
    Is it a standard Cpanel?

Any other thoughts on this or anything i have missed i would love to hear your views!

Look at your current usage and double it at least, triple is even better because coming half way through the month and running out of bandwidth is probable the worst thing you can do for your website!

I vote for HostGator. Godaddy is nice if you 're looking for cheap domain.

I would choose godaddy only for domain names. They're customer service and web hosting really left to be desired.

I'd never host with godaddy. They are out of the typical. I had a lot of headaches with them when transfer a site from them to another host. As quality I don't know how does it work, but they are very "special" if you understand what I want to say

Godaddy is horrible at hosting sites, really, just do a simple Google search about Godaddy hosting. If I would be you I'd either stay with HostGator or change to a different host that also allows free site transfers.

I wouldn't recommend Godaddy for hosting, the site is a mess and very unintuitive, especially for newcomers, but I will say that their technical support guys are brilliant, they are all American and really know their stuff, they are also very helpful, contact is by telephone, your local rates applies to the call.

I have read many thousands of threads, and I have never heard a bad word about Hostgator, so they must be good.

My own hosting company is Just host, they probably have the best cpanel around, it is super. Tech support is also good (by email reply usually within the hour)

Just don't do it. Godaddy hosting is not recommended. Also if you are happy with your current web host why move?

I heard nice thing about hostgator hosting service. Godaddy is great for hosting domains but they are not so good for hosting your site. G00gl3 hostgator hosting and goaddy hosting feedback and read the customers feedback. You can easily decide from what they are saying about the two websits.

    "Is it a standard Cpanel?"

I used it once. The interface is similar to domain manager. It is not standard Cpanel.

Thanks for the feedback guys i really appreciate it. The main reason i was thnking of moving is that a new site i am about to lauch will( i hope) need a lot of bandwidth! and with godaddy offering load balanced cloud based solutions i would have expected this solution to be faster.

I cannot fault hostgator but you need to stay ahead of the curve on technology and with google now calculating load speed on pages as part of their new serp ranking technology i am have to consider all options. Has anyone moved to the Godaddy 4th gen hosting solution on here that can give their feedback?

One company is hosting provider, the other one is domain registrar offering web hosting solutions.

Compare all the pluses and minuses - then choose the best one.

    Even more expanded:
HostGator offers hosting, along with domain name registrations/transfers/renewals
Godaddy offers domain registration, along with hosting

How can you choose from that? It doesn't make a lot of sense, but anyways looking at just these factors you should go for HostGator like already mentioned. Do you consider other hosting companies or not?

Stick with what you have done til now, Domain from Godaddy, Hosting from Hostgator. Because

    1. Hostgator cannot beat Godaddy in terms of Domain Control Panel.
    2. Godaddy cannot beat Hostgator in terms of Hosting Service.

    Dear Scotsmarc,

Here's my honest review since I've used godaddy hosting plan about 4 weeks ago. And I've a bad experience with them. My websites suddenly not working and sometimes offline. It only happens on the 1st month and works fine till now. I don't know if they was done something on my hosting. But, it shouldn't occur since you pay for the hosting. It can't acceptable.

I haven't used any of them extensively but if you think the user reviews are genuine Hostgator is a better host.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks a mil for the input and your reviews and advice. I have renewed with Hostgator. The 4th gen option with godaddy seems tempting and might be an option in the future if they sort out the issues that seem to plague them, but sticking with hostgator
