I've been with HG for 2 years on multiple dedicated servers. I've *never* had a support problem that wasn't addressed immediately.

What's HG? I've been with iweb.ca and they have been the best, I moved from Hostgator to Inmotionhosting and finally settle down with iweb. Prices are the best without losing out on customer service.

I´ve been with hostgator for 6 months now and only had a downtime problem once. They fixed it right way.

There are many tools available to do just that.
I personally use Pingdom. It is not really free but it is the best. There are also other free services like Mo.nitor.us and siteuptime.com. But they are not upto the mark.

They are all over sellers. And webhostingstuff provides biased data. They show 0 outages for hostgator in the last 8 or so months. But I have been myself with HostGator and I can say they had atleast 40 outrages

Theplanet network has not been down for two days straight. Please provide some type of proof about this please......

I'm sure there are many people here on theplanet network that can back my statement up. Esg do you have a ticket number? Does anyone? The only way you had this much downtime with us is you failed to pay your bill. If you can provide a ticket number and I'm wrong I'll give you $1,000.

Hostgator is just fine for me (I do have some sites hosted there and all the webmails that I do use every day)

But I had lots of headaches this month with Dreamhost (more than 200 subdomains/domains hosted there) and their favorite sport : downtimes

They have plenty of reason to justify for the downtime, just forget dreaming about claiming a free months. Their huge terms of service is enough to take away any bar from them.
If you they causes you data loss / email loss (they are not responsible)
They are not responsible for any of your files. They are not responsible for taking daily backup & restoring.

At this moment I have not finalized whether I will continue hosting with hostgator or not, but with in my rough estimation hostgator have brought me a loss of aproximately US$500 and ofcourse no claims at all...

Checkout http://forums.hostgator.com/showthread.php?t=30487 you will see how long does it take them to fix a problem, and they didn't even had a current backup, the backup they restored was more than 3 days old (approximately 24 man hours). and all emails during these 3 days are lost as well.

That's not all, In my opinion / experience they don't even pay to the affiliates. As I signed up under my friends affiliate link and my friend told me that he never get any credit at all.

In short, I want to clear the point, Dont expect anything from hostgator. When they are good / your sites working fine .. it's ok....and when you have trouble you better plan to move away rather than claiming them, because in my experience they wont pay you a single penny...

I am using hostgator, and I am very satisfied. I used Godaddy before hostgator, Godaddy is like 0/10 when it comes to hosting.

I have experienced few hours downtime so far at hostgator.

Yeh, they've protected themselves nicely with their TOS. Check my sig if you want to move. We can transfer your site to us from host gator.
You have to monitor this yourself.
