I 've a host gator shared server plan. Few month ago i start getting email like this. I believe the server is hacked, and spam is sending out under my domain name.

I did a few live chat and forward those email to host gator, but no one can help....this is bull crap

It looks like just one of the spam / virus's been sent out by some infected computer that is part of a "botnet" type thing and spoofing your domain address.

I get at least 20 of them a day that get past my spam filters *sigh*

The attachment is probably a virus or trogen.

I checked this out for you, and It actually has nothing to do with us. This is just regular spam that goes around the net. You can solve this very easily just turn off your catchall. The one you posted wasn't even sent to a real email address, but since you have the catchall enabled it caught it.

Yep, that's the problem with using "catchall". You do "catch all". Including virus emails. All they need is a way into a mail server these days. Then they unleash the nasties.

Sounds like you need to get your backup ready and wipe the server clean, then re-install.

    Col :)

I would guess that you are not running exchange, so it is most likely a faked email. Never actually sent from your server, but bounced back to your email inbox catchall. And, unless you actually ran a virus infected attachment on your server, most likely your server is not infected with anything. Backups are good. Just don't jump the gun on a server reload.

I was having same problem with bluehost.com
Then bluehost disabled "catchall". And give us warning 1 week before, to setup email accounts that are really needed.

I am happy with their service!

Yeah it has to do with catchall being on and botnets using your domain in it's emails. Our domain recently has got hit hard by this and good thing we don't got catchall on. But it sure is a lot of mail hitting the fence which is pretty annoying when you search for your domain and it's mentioned in lots of spam mail yet it is not even coming from you.
