Hostgator or not? Need new webhost

    Hi DP family,

    I'm currently looking for a new host for my website. At the moment I'm hosted at one.com. It's a good host, but they are getting annoying telling that my website is becoming too big etc.
    That's why I'm looking for a new (shared) webhost. These are the requirements that the webhost must have:

    * Minimum 1GB webspace
    * Minimum 2 MySQL databases
    * Minimum 150 GB bandwidth/month
    * Minimum 2 domains allowed and enough subdomains
    * A good cPanel
    * PHP 4/5
    * Price between $0.00 (hmm lol) and $10.00 per month
    * ... some other things that I can't remember right now but not that important

    I was thinking about hostgator.com, the shared baby package (+/- $7.95/month): http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml

    Is that a good choice or do you recommend another one?
    Please help me! I believe in you guys, so everything you say must be serious ... I don't want to have problems with hosting anymore ...

    Thanks for the help!!

    Hostgator is really good, some of my friends use them and they are very satisfied with them. I personally haven't used them but many people tell me they are great. Also knownhost.com are great, use them and they are just awesome and are also around your budget.

    I think Host Gator is good that is why I became an affiliate. They have good ratings and they offer a great package for $7.95. I have a much smaller need right now but as I grow, I am planning to switch over to them. I have a coupkle of $1.55 a month plans but I will need to upgrade at some point and their baby plan looks great.

    If you decide to sign up and want to sign up with my link, I will throw in a free PR3 link for three months for doing so. Just PM me if you decide.

    Try omnis.com - they offer relatively cheap and good hosting...

    Or if your site is getting realy big, you shoud look for some dedicated or vp server ;)

    Hostgator are pretty well known. You could also try out Bluehost, Hostmonster, Dreamhost, Asmallorange, Lunarpages, HostIcan and other hosts.

    Well I'm afraid Hostgator will be telling you the same - and all shared web hosts might - but I'm not sure. I think you should go for a VPS or a dedicated server.

    Everyone here will tell you different host. It’s not so big deal; they are all pretty much the same. Someone will have great experience, someone not…. So in the end it’s up to you. Always is.

    Yes, check out HostGator, Lunarpages and HostMonster / BlueHost. I don't recommend Ixwebhosting though. They have been better lately but had some issues last year.

    This is getting very hard to decide what to choose ...
    Bluehost, Hostgator or Webhostingbuzz ...

    I think I'll take Webhostingbuzz: Cheapest and the best features (750 GB space :eek: and 10000 GB data traffic)

    Do you actually use 10TB of bandwidth? If not, which probably you don't, focus on the performance. If you use that much of bandwidth, you need your own server, these cheap hosts would probably ban you for over-CPU usage anyways. Another plus about HG is that you can pay monthly, most of others set such a pricing that you almost have to pay yearly bc monthly plans look like a rip off. Also i recently used bluehost and their speed was so slow i had to cancel the account before first month.
