    Ha! A fellow Site5 customer. :D

I would suggest Site5 or Media Temple over Hostgator, and Hostgator over GoDaddy.

I have accounts with both, host gator and godaddy.

hostgator is find, no real problems, most everything works, fine.

Go daddy, on the other hand, is good for really only one thing, storage of files,

If you want to run a script, with any kind of complex, PHP forget it,

Godaddy is not for website scripts, its really works well for storage, serving images, files, but not so much for much else.

I'm would choose Hostgator. I'm a customer of theirs and I have always found them very helpful.

Also, as mentioned in a previous post, it is never a good idea to have your domains registered with the same company that is hosting your website.

By keeping them separate it's easier to switch one or the other (hopefully not both) in case there are problems down the road.

I've been using HostGator for over a year now with no problems what-so-ever. Great, speedy response too.

use godaddy. The support is 24 hours a day and the prices are great.
the interface is complex though, just call them up when you need something.

For hobby sites all the above mentioned hosts are probably OK

when you want a site to have speed and be up at all times
    with no "bad neighbor problems"
then you need VPS or Dedicated but those cost a bit more

I have a reseller account with HostGator for about 3 years now, I am using this account to host only my websites and I had NO ISSUE with HostGator ever. I got several extra IPs and the support was great, in less than a day all my accounts were set with the new IPs.

My personal oppinion is that HostGator is the best for small to midsized businesses. They offer solutions (decicated servers) for large corporations too.

    Good luck!

GoDaddy is awful for hosting, but is the best for domains! It depends if you have a bit more money to spend, I would host with HostGator.

I have hosted with both GoDaddy and HostGator, HostGator went smoothly, GoDaddy kept me up all the time as well, but you have much slower hosting, the pages take much longer to load!

Absolutely, hands-down, 1000% go with HostGator. They're cheap, reliable, and FAST to help you with anything you need. They promise 99.9% uptime... my site's been up a year and it hasn't gone down once.

Hehehe... re-reading that it sounds like they're paying me or something.
