Hostgator or BlueHost or Both?

Should one host all of their websites on either of these hosts ... or host half on one and the remaining on the other one?

I have 5 websites on my Bluehost hosting account and 2 on my Hostgator hosting account.

Whether to host all your sites on one hosting account or not? - this depends on how many sites will you have and how big will they be.

It really all depends, personally I am not a big fan of companies that claim to offer unlimited diskspace/bandwidth. Especially since those companies are more likely to end up suspending your account quicker and more frequently for using excessive resources. Companies who claim to offer "unlimited" everything also have a tendency of attracting abusers looking to test those invisible limits which usually lead to an unstable server.

How much diskspace/bandwidth are your websites currently consuming?

Depends on the number of your website and the total bandwidth they consume. It also depends on the server resource utilization they make.
At one point or other, as your sites grow and traffic increases, you need to upgrade to VPS.

I always go for hostgator: they are totally reliable, their servers never crash, excellent customer service, they wait for you almost a month before cutting your service if you do not pay, REALLY unlimited (most of those who say unlimited don't mean it) and much more.

I recommend both of the hostings if you want to host blogs. Different IP addresses for blogs is better then same for all. This is plus for on SEO ranking.

I would recommend to host sites at different places. If by any chance the server goes down / data center outage etc... only those site will be affected and not all.

yeap its best to have multiple locations. Main one can be slightly more expensive and just have a few backups that is cheap. should be good to have you going incase of long down times.

Its depends on number of sites and how much resource it consume. If you have big list then host in both. I prefer Hostmonster than the bluehost(we though both are from same company)

i hosted 50 sites with hostgator without any issue but it all depend how much resource your site

Go for HG coz they have cloud flare tech which mean your website load faster compare to BH.

Haven't tried BlueHost, but more than happy with a Hostgator shared Baby Plan...no problems at all. Excellent customer service, too :)
