Shoemoney was gloating on facebook that he was glad he'd moved his sites away so I gather the problem is widespread

Darn it! The frustrating part for me is I moved everything to their VPS in hopes that I won't see much of downtime.

They are ridiculously slow at fixing the issue.

They are not and I am not even sure if they will be up any time tonight. Had to pause my paid advertising to ensure I am not wasting money all night long.

All it says on their blog it was a network issue within their Provo data center. Around 4 am today full service was restored to most customers. A very small number is still affected though. My sites are up now.

On Shoemoney facebook page he says he moved everything from hostgator to https://www.hostamania.com/ . Never heard of hostamania, but it looks very attractive to me now.

How could you've missed it, Hostamania was a big word on everyones mouths when it launched. Simply because it was the hosting company of Hulk Hogan :D They even made a couple of video ads around wrestling and Hulk's natural skills of screaming and looking badass. Honestly, I won't discuss it much, because I don't know anyone that uses them but am a little wary of their management and would be careful in such a switch.

Nothing surprising about HostGator tho, that's their XXX-th problem since they were acquired by EIG and they are losing customers at a very steady pace. Their affiliates, blatantly advertising them in forums like this one, are getting more and more hillarious and out place with their claims of "best host" ;)

Today I received (probably all other customers did as well) this email from hosgator. Seems like the company does all it can to reassure their customers in the quality of their service. One month of free hosting is a good offer in exchange for our patience and understanding.

Yeah, heard about that email from some of their users and that indeed seems like the logical thing to do. If they did not offer something of the kind, they would certainly see a more significant flow out their services. Still, 3rd outage in the last 6 months seems to make many people uneasy and who can blame them...

Called them today and got the next month free. Keep in mind their cut off date is 4/25 so if you call them after the 25th you will probably be out of luck.

I gave up on Hostgator about three years ago - Nothing but problems with them. I can only assume the glowing reviews they still get on some review sites are paid for or its to do with their high affiliate commissions.
