Hostgator - If They Are So Good,Why Is Their Sales Recod No Good

Currently on October 25 Hostgator's Web Hosting Sales ranking is 21 st out of 58 Web Hosting Service providers who are with Commission Juncton Affiliate Program.
Their sales record does not live up to their good reputation/reviews at all !!!

But I got to a conclusion that they are good based on below.
    1. In this forum they have very good reviews
    2. I am a member of another forum and members are saying very good things.
    3. I belong to a subscription membership site who has more than 4000 members and they use Hostgator. The Webmaster thinks Hostgator is good.
Web Hosting fee is included in monthly membership fee so every member has to use Hostgator. So I currently use them and have no problems with them.

But if I personally choose a web hoting company on my own in the future,I might experiment with others.

I am wondering all the time why they don't sell very well.
    Could someone please enlighten me?
    WHY?
Is that because theri high price?
Compared to iPage $3.5/m and FatCow $3.67/m who both include free domain name,Hosgator monthly fee is much higher.
Also Hosgator price does not include Domain name so you have to spend domain name fee on top of web hosting fee.

Please don't get me wrong. I have no doubt about their good quality. and I currently use them.
Also I am affiliate with Hostgator through Commission Junction and I currently promote them, being convinced they are good.
What I am asking here is why they do not sell well.

Well, for me it's mainly due to its high price. I don't know about the quality though, never use it before.

I'm sure thats it's the matter of price. Hosting business is extemely competitive and some other hosting companies (like iPage and FatCow) manage to offer equally good service for lower price. In my opinion, HostGator should lower their price a bit if they want to sell more. But maybe it's better to sell less and maintain good reputation :).

Don't believe all those shitty review sites that relies on a bunch of affiliate links.
I promoted Host Gator before untill i found out they use blackhat (link injections) tactics on my sites, read more here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1844891

    Avoid avoid avoid!
Pay $1 or $2 more for a legit trustworthy hostingcompany instead of these crooks.

If you find their price high I think you always have an opportunity to find something else. Cheaper or better.

Thank you very much for your comments which backs up my guess in my original post.

    ilook
Thank you for your and other's similar problematic experience with Hostgator in your Thread.
Hostgator employee responded in the thread and I understand this type of industry practice.
So I learnt a lot from your thread.

    Mentos
I am an Affiliate with Commission Junction so I can access statistics of all CJ advertisers.

    I currently promote only iPage(1st $93),MyHosting(8 th $65),FatCow(14 th $47),Hostgator(21 st $30),Yahoo (52 th)
Table - 3 month EPC (earnings per 100 clicks) - tells you sales performance ranking here out of 58 web Hosting companies.
iPage $93 EPC means an affiliate earns $93 per 100 clicks.

You might ask me why I do not promote N0 1,2,3,4 and 5.

I would like to promote only companies which I feel confortable/confident with.
IX Web Hosting comes 3 rd,but I am reluctant to promote them as their review/reputation is TO ME not as good as lower ranked fatCow or Hostgator.

Hostgator is 21 st very low and I do not want to promote, but theier reviews are very good in this forum and another forum and a subscription site (more than 4000 members) which I belong to uses them.
So I am very confident with them. So I promote them.

Yahoo is pathetic, being 52 nd out of 58,but I promote them as I do not hear bad things and their web hosting might benefit other Yahoo features.

I also promote GoDaddy ONLY FOR their Domain business, but in my site I stated "Reviews/FeedBack of GoDaddy Web Hosting from Web Hosting review sites or Internet marketing forum seem to be not impressive so Please investgate throughly on your own and make your judgement!!"
This forum and another forum members say not good things about them and net reviews are poor. And I heard some horror stoties in anther forum.

From my personal experience me use fatcow and hostgator both for my wp blog. Fatcow suspend me for high cpu and in host gator i never face any kind of cpu load problem . host gator server is better then fatcow . actually quality comes with prices so that their price is higher then others .

If you get a lot of affiliate payouts they will start to thinking your defrauding and start calling your customers to make sure you actually referred them instead of spamming them, if they say you didn't refer them you have the risk of your account being suspended/banned and not getting paid out for any of your affiliate referrals.

Hostgator is probably one of the biggest shared hosting providers in the world, they own there own data centers, and host millions of websites, but that doesn't make them good, that's for sure, companies that get that big go down in quality all the time, and they have went down hill ever since, because all they care about is money instead of there customers and what really matters > Quality which they don't have as they oversell and overload there servers as much as they can.

I actually know the CEO very well I talk to him once in a while via email and known him for about 5 year's he's a cool guy but for as muhc as he gets paid he should actually turn his company around for the better instead of worrying about a pay increase.

The company is so big even if they lose, 500 customers they will gain them the same time, there turn around is losing a few hundred customers a day, but they are so big they gain probably 500 new one's from referrals or search engines, or word of mouth.

I think the biggest problem with the hosting industry is 75% of people that run/own websites have no idea what to look for when buying hosting, and what overselling is, they just think it's something wrong with there site when it's slow, down, or lagged, but fact is, it's the company they are with, and another reason is overselling, I'm sick and tired of companies offering "UNLIMITED SPACE, BANDWIDTH" when in all truth they can't offer it as it's not possible and two they offer it and they turn around and come up with some bullshit about there TOS(terms and service) which says if you actually use XX amount you will lose your account, or if you use your site for XX you will get canceled which is bullshit.

I would like to start a class action lawsuit against hostgator and similar companies for offering unlimited when they do not actually offer it, in there own terms and conditions state there is limits and if you go over it, you will lose your account which is FALSE ADVERTISING, even if it's in there TOS it's a violation of the FTC false advertising conditions which is a violation of state and federal law in every single state.

I'm actually filing a lawsuit against a pizza company right now for false advertising and I will win with flying colors and I'm sure they will settle out of court but it's just bullshit that they do it and for so long that a lawsuit doesn't hurt there profits, they still win even if they lose.
