Hostgator I asked for information after a purchase.

    Hello people

I hired a web hosting service with Hostgator and I am now asking for verification. I can not call because I do not speak English.

Hostgator also requests scanned copy of a Photo ID such as a passport or drivers license. Additionally, request a copy of a credit card ...
What if I paid with PayPal?

Is all this so necessary?

    What can I do?

I hope some help from you, I'll be very grateful.

PS: I apologize for my poor English, I must improve!

    Sebastian.-

Yes it is necessary and there is no harm in giving hostgator this billing information if you live outside of the USA. What can you do? make sure that the url is a hostgator url and check your address bar to be on the lookout for a fake site while you do this.

I'd have to disagree with you there. They are among the best in the business.

    Very funny!!
Have you even tried hostgator.....? I think not.
Hostgator has the best support there has ever been.
@OP: they usually require verification if they feel that the same person is registering multiple hosting accounts on different sales accounts. You're permitted multiple accounts on the same sales account.

I have no idea why some people are saying HostGator sucks. I would love to know if you have ever used them recently.

Anyway back to the point. A lot of hosting companies do this because the majority of fraud is from only a hand few of countries. If you do not like the idea of this you can always try and find another company. But I'm afraid this is common practice amongst hosts now.

HostGator is a cheater for international clients like me! It's a total waste of money and only 1% chance to be verified. Damn driver's license!

Hey dude, do you expect that all people of different countries know how to drive? Huh?

They don't specifically ask for a driver's license - it can be any kind of government issued ID with a photo on it, like a passport.

Hostgator will temporarily suspend if your script too much using cpu/ram resources, but they give you a change to fix it then they will release the suspended.
    Hostgator Rocks...

I was a reseller for hostgator and I can tell you from personal experience their support stinks - thats why I went independant and got my own servers.
