Hi I registered with hostgator yesterday for hosting since it was highly recommended from others. I purchased my domain names from godaddy. I switched the DNS to hostgator but when I try to log into my cpanel from my site it says, page not available. I have contacted support and they keep telling me to give it a couple of hours. Have others experienced this? Im ready to build my site and tired of waiting.

You probably just need to wait a few hours for your dns to update like the support is saying. But if you're running windows goto Start -> Accessories -> command prompt and enter this

    ipconfig /flushdns

This will clear your dns cache.

It might just be the issue with DNS propogation..by that time please reconfirm your nameservers and IP and see if they are correctly setup and your registrar end.

Because now a days nameserver update hardly takes 30 minutes..might be something is wrong..just make sure.

It's probably just that the DNS hasn't updated yet I'd just give it 24 hours and check back.

I think you need to be patient as DNS changes might take up to 72 hours. If in 72 hours you will be unable to access to the web site you can start worrying
    Good luck

before propagation complete you can always access your site by IP address.
    eg. 123.123.123.123/~youraccount
Refer the link provided in your hostgator account setup email. details inside.

In your welcome email from HostGator it should say how to access your cpanel account by IP address.

Recently NS servers are updated rather quick. Try to flush your DNS cache.

I don't think it will take 48 hours. Though they says 48, DNS propagation takes only around one hour in case of Hostgator-Godaddy. But the domain.com/cpanel takes some time. Hostgator will provide an alternate URL to access your Cpanel in the welcome mail. Use that in the mean time.

Just wait on the DNS to propogate - until it does you can just log into cpanel using your IP address.
