I am looking at a variety of hosts. One of them is hostgator. Any DP members who host sites/have hosted sites? As regards shared hosting, what is the maximum users it can take in one day? I suppose there is an option to upgrade/downgrade the service. Roughly, I mean since no one can be accurate. For Hatchling, Baby Thanks in advance.
i am hosting one of my sites with them, and the experience is more than positive, fast support and good uptime, never had any issues with them. the only problem is, they do not allow to send more than 200 emails per hour. so if u have a forum with many members and want to send a mass email / PM, you would need to throttle it, using some proggie (available in their cPanel as well).
I have a total of ten sites on my shared account and my experience has been great! I would recommend HostGator to anyone who is looking for "shared" hosting.
Hi, I have been with HostGator for a few months now. So far they have been excellent. Support within a few hours everytime. I switched from LiveHost(dot)Net. They went to hell in a hand basket in such a short time. I hope this helps. dthbah2006
I have HostGator too, and so far they havn't disapointed me. I am very pleased with their support and services. One thing that I especially like is their live chat function, in witch you can ask the support questions. You often get a supporter to chat with within 2 minutes. Its great!
Will also throw a vote in support of HostGator. Have had a number of sites with them for about 6 months now and not one problem.
I've been using Hostgator for over a month, and I've liked it a lot. I love their 24 hr Live Chat feature with Support. I wouldn't really consider a Hatchling plan because you get 1/5th of the bandwidth, and can only host one domain, but the Baby plan is great value for unlimited domains for $3 more.
I am also using hostgator from last 3 months and i am happy with their services... I never got any downtime or any problem.. Their support is very good.. they alaways have a person on live support.. even on holidays
Thanks for the responses. I will probably go with them. The only problem is transferring posts from blogger v2 to wordpress. I have everything set up on local computer for testing purposes. I tried rss import but rss does not store all my posts. I also tried romantika.name/v2/2006/12/19/import-blogger-beta-to-wordpress/#comment-6055 It is an excellent utility but I keep getting timeouts. Typing over 1000 posts again is not an option. Then I will just buy a domain with GoDaddy and most probably hosting by HostGator.
they are not bad. but i think the customer service can be improved and they should improve on their customization package as i find them a little bid rigid in term of bandwidth request.
I have the reseller package and host around 8 of my sites on there now. The support is great and it's all pretty flexible and easy
I'm on Hostgator and I must say that I am very pleased with their hosting. The biggest thing I've found is that it is fast! I had only one problem when I first switched over to Hostgator (I had a page that pulled data from a SHOUTcast server and displayed it) due to a firewall issue; the problem was fixed almost instantly after I contacted support. They were very helpful and informative about the issue. I definately recommend them.
Yep, impressed with their support. Spoke with their sales service (did not buy yet), just asked them a question if I can use this script romantika.name/v2/2006/12/19/import-blogger-beta-to-wordpress/ to transfer from blogger beta to wordpress. Told them if i could, they said yes. However i would be relaxed if someone actually tried this method. If I choose wordpress from the control panel, using this script, will it work. Has anyone tried it. Now just thinking of a good domain name, as kaizenlog is not exactly a good name. I need to read resources about choosing a domain name.
