    dreamhost SUCKS!!!!

    i use both hostgator and dreamhost

    Hostgator=excellent
    dreamhost=SUCKS

    Dreamhost cancelled my proxy site while getting only 90 hits or so a day.

    They didnt cancel my account which was good so ia m going to use them for bandwith and file transfer only. I was warned they would cancel but i had to try for myself!

    Have used both and honestly I dont like either, but the one I dislike the less is HostGator. Why dont I like dreamhost? Its mostly because of their crappy control panel. I really did like the 24x7 chat HostGator offered. Other than those two, I love http://www.okihost.com and http://www.steadfast.net

    I love HostGator... one of VERY few companies that's never disappointed me in some way. On the rare occasion that there's downtime, it's usually fixed quickly, and within minutes often if I contact them directly... with any problem actually (not that there have been many). :) They're also one of very few companies I'd actually recommend to anyone for anything.

    I can only speak on HostGator. So far they have been Great!

    I had a small problem, so I emailed support. Next thing you know in 10 minutes tech support emailed me back saying the problem was fixed.

    I was expecting at least a day or two to have Tech Support fix the problem. Not in 10 minutes

    Also, you can't beat their 24 hour live help.

    Hopefully, they keep up the good work

    HostGator was always good for me, I haven't used DreamHost but I haven't heard the best things about them. It really depends on what your requirements are.

    I remember that you called it BS when I warned you, he he.

    Anyway, Hostgator will also throw a proxy owner out, most of the shared hosting hosts will so proxies are not a good measurement for ranking hosts.

    With so many customers, I thought there would 1 or 2 here that would support them. Maybe not.

    Godaddy is awful for hosting. Suffice it to say they exercise far too much control over customers' accounts (my main issue was that they wouldn't allow me to choose who I and my writers were "allowed" to receive email from - their blacklisting, and not allowing us to whitelist, meant my own writers couldn't receive our newsletters... it was ridiculous, and Godaddy's own cust. serv. guy told me it was b/c the company was launching a service competing with Godaddy, so they wouldn't whitelist them - inexcusable).

    The difference is that hostgator has a nice standard cPanel. Godaddy and dreamhost home made control panels are nonsense.

    I like the fact that HostGator offers cPanel.

    Also you get the 1st month with the "Baby" plan almost free ($0.01) with the help of coupons... :D

    So my vote for HostGator :)
