HostGator has been great for me. I've been using them for quite some time now, and I've been amazed at how good speed and uptime is considering their prices. They offer a lot of resources for very cheap. I honestly have not used their support that much (haven't needed it), so I can't comment on that. They are excellent! Their support is extremely fast, just like their servers! If you're gonna take shared hosting, take baby package, and use the coupon code : freetrial and you will only pay 1 cent for first month, and then every other month 9.95$/10$

I can recommend Hostgator because for the time i have been with them, uptime and website speed was great. I could not complain, but you may find also another HostGator reviews which will be negative. But personally i think going with HostGaotr is not step away.
