hostgator and wordpress installation failed

im so sorry if this is the wrong place to post, if it is please point me in the right direction.
i was installing my hostgator wordpress but the install completely failed. at the top of the screen it says
installation failed Error Details
installation directory is not empty. please install to empty location.
how on earth do i fix this??

ive just watched something on youtube about what you posted. if i do what was writen in your post but it is still not working can i just reset everything and start again???

 

Make sure you select "show hidden files" in cPanel. If you don't you may miss some files that are still in that directory, even though you may not see them.

 

Delete what you have done so far and run a fresh installation with an add on from the cPanel or just do it manually via filezilla or some other ftp client.
