I'm considering to transfer my arcade site to Hostgator, but I read recently that when you add arcade sites to them, they ask you to get a shared or dedicated server... Is that true or it's just rumors? Thanks in advance for your answers
I don't know their policy, however, I believe the reason why some companies offer to clients vps or dedicated server is because of the cpu load. As I see your website (if it is the second one in your signature) it has alexa rank over 2,000,000 so I guess you can have much more visitors and you will be still able to use shared hosting. We have many clients running arcade sites and there is no problem to run them on the shared hosting plans. So I think Hostgator should have no problem with them too.
When your site grows and uses more resources, as with any web hosting company, they will ask you to upgrade to a VPS or Dedicated account.
