Hello, please help me to choose web hosting: 1) Hostgator $9.95(baby plan) 2) Namecheap $6.95 # 100GB space # 1000GB transfer # 1250 email accounts # 30 MySQL or PostgreSQL databases # 10 20 hosted domains # 10 20 parked domains # Unlimited subdomains # Unlimited FTP users I dont see the diff between HG and NC but NC is cheaper So what do you think, may be I do know some hidden pluses in Hostgator Thank you
Basing your decision on these factors isn't going to give you the best solution. Let's be honest, you're never likely to use 100GB of space, 1000GB of traffic is difficult to acheive, do you really need 1250 email accounts when you might use 5-20, what use are 30 MySQL databases unless you do nothing but spend you time developing application after application. Do you really need unlimited subdomains and FTP users? The actual resources provided are way above what you will ever need or use, so do they actually matter? Go with the company you feel happiest with. The resources provided are only "flannel" and there is a lot more to hosting that just these numbers. Does one provide backup while the other doesn't - that, to me, would be a more important thing to have. Do they backup your databases? What about support? who is the most technically competent? Who answers the quickest with an answer you actually understand? How reliable are their servers? do they display their monitoring and uptime reports? How well do sites on their servers perform? What about customer feedback - can you find anything negative about these companies on the internet (ignoring dumb customers who are attempting to trash them)? Do you know anyone using them who can recommend them? If you base your decision purely on resources provided (unless you actually need them), and on the cheapest price you can find, you will end up being disappointed. The prices are different for a reason - a reason you will never know - but the price difference will NOT be purely based on profit because other factors will be at work...the number of sites on the average server, network quality and redundancy, failover, spare servers, number and quality of tech staff, quality and number of bandwidth providers, speed of network, type of hardware being used, etc etc etc. These companies will vary hugely in what they actually provide in terms of what is really important for a fast successful web site. The list of resources is not the best way to make that decision although sometime that's all a hosting provider will give you to make your decision. Read the site copy - is it friendly and do you understand it, read the Terms of Service - do they seem reasonable, do they only display a list of resources without explaining what they are? Do they provide other services that you might like or need? How helpful is the site, does it answer all your questions? These will give you a better feel for the company than a simple list ever could.
Both are decent host. However, it depends if you have your domain names at Namecheap or not. I always recommend never to host the same place that you have the domain registered. If you have an issue where your host suspends your account, if they are also your domain registrar, you will also not have access to the domain name.
i never host my sites on domain registrars, i would say hostgator. Use the coupon "wordpress" to get the first month at hostgator for $0.01 (baby plan)
Use made2own, I promise you'll never be happier. Unlimited space/bandwith for 7 dollars and amazing customer service.
HostGator has been providing hosting services for 8 years and NameCheap just started hosting a year or two ago. I've heard good things about Namecheap's hosting services but I know from experience that HostGator will not let you down.
I would recommend Hostgator over Namecheap for hosting company. From now on I would say HG for "Hostgator" and NC for "Namecheap". I will explain you in details why. - HG is a web hosting provider from the beginning. This could mean how specialize for hosting industry they are compared to NC. NC is a great domain name register company but not for web hosting company. - HG is a reputable one. I do assume over 50% of webmasters around the globe know HG. - You should not choose web hosting provider based on the cheap price too much. Cheap price most likely mean a peanut. You would get some headache from the cheap hosting like "data lost" "no backup" "weak security", etc.
