I dont know if this is in the right section or not if its in the wrong section please move it to the right place , I was looking for a cheap host for a few site's i was goona be doing and come across a guy i used for hosting befor ( i had noissue with him the first time i used his hosting ), he said he would give me unlimted space and traffic for $30 a year , yes i know its to good to be true and unlimted is never unlimted , but it would do me for a few month's or so then i could always move to a server if the sites took of. Any ways here is the 2 hour long MSN Convo , i think i gave him lots of chances to refund me , im i in the right or am i in the wrong?
I guess it all varies host to host. I sell server space and I would not have had a problem refunding after only 4 days if there was an issue on my end. Uploading large files though I dont see defined in his tos, and AA is not an illegal file.
Looks like this tool Robbie has stitched you up to me. He mis-sold you something as unlimited hosting and then he changes his mind when you try to upload an 800 meg .exe. In the piece of message below he confirms he sold unlimited to you for $30. You're right to request a refund because he has lied to you about the description of his service. NAME AND SHAME - there's lots of people on here who might NOT want to fall foul of the same trick when they renew their hosting. If you sell something, even at a discount, you have a legal obligation to give an accurate description of it. SKULL says: the unlimted a year deal that was 30$ , Robbie! says: we only have $40 a year unlimited plans... SKULL says: you let me have it for $30 if you remeber... Robbie! says: Mates rights if i remember now right? SKULL says: Mates rights? Robbie! says: mates rates? SKULL says: Meaning ? Robbie! says: cheaper SKULL says: Yep kinda confused but ya it was a deal of $30 a year Robbie! says: hmm Robbie! says: well then it doesn't have a refund option Robbie! says: because it was cheaper
His company is grab-hosting.com , as you see he site ant 100% complete and its been like that for about 6 months , i have set a despute up to try and get him to change his mind , as with all the proff i have and with what hes told me on there i think i have a good chance of getting my $30 , i know $30 is not a lot but damn after 4 days hes got a $30 profit. The thing i like about it is that he was trying to get me on the 3 files that was in there saying i was braking the law hosting them files , as in the convo you can see he read the TOS about one of the files , what he did not read right as i put him right on that with proff. I have a feeling this guy is only like 16 , IMO How do you do a charge back ?
First thing is you need to open a dispute against the seller. Just say something along the lines of "Seller mis-sold webhosting under a false description and refuses to refund when challenged". You do this through your PayPal account. A good move because when they prove he's done wrong he'll lose his PayPal reputation.
Hosting is probably considered a virtual good though, so you wont get your money back through Paypal... If you paid via Paypal using a credit card, you may be able to call your bank and do a chargeback, but this doesn't always work with Paypal. Unless you're buying a real life physical item, Paypal really isn't safe at all, unfortunately.
I read enough of the communication to tell you to contact paypal. They will give it back, show them the part about "no refund because we gave you a cheaper rate".
I have opened a dispute with paypal its been about a day and half now and hes not replyed to the dispute , it says that i can not leave the dispute in paypals hands untill the 20 days are up from opening the dispute.
