Host, provider and owner in different countries - which law?

    Hi everybody,

For the past few days I've been reading a lot of topics here regarding copyright issues and other legal stuff. One thread already mentioned that you're bound by the law of the country in which your website is hosted.

I was wondering however, if there was a difference if your hosting provider has its servers in another country.

Suppose you have a hosting provider located in the UK, with servers in the United States - are you now bound by UK law or by US law?

    Thanks in advance,

    Marlon

good question. I would like to know too. I can complicate that - what if you are living in Estonia, Poland or Russia. Is this any international law?

    Waiting for experts reply

The website would be in America so you would be under there law. If you commit a crime it is being done in the US and not the UK.

You are bound by the laws of the land you live in, as well as the laws of the location of the server. If the host is from the UK, you're from Germany, and the servers are located in the US, you are bound by US and German Law, not UK law.
