I agree. I have hosted with extremely cheap hosting providers before and have never had a good experience. I recently bought reseller hosting at Hostgator which costs a bit more than its competitors, but my sites have never been down and they load extremely fast. At my old host they were down 3 times in one month and once my sites were down for almost a whole day.

Well I'm starting to wonder about them because right now my reseller hosting is down, first showed 500 internal error for all sites and now 404 error page. They apologized but couldn't give me an exact reason other than some type of upgrading going on..whatever that means...not happy my sites are down and don't know how long will take to resolve. And this is second time something happened within the last couple weeks. Last time they were saying someone was over using the resources. I've hosted with them for sometime now and everything always was fine but this latest incident is most unusual, taking more time to resolve and makes you wonder what's next.

When I called host gator one time the phone was fumbled for about ten seconds then someone awnsered and sounded like they were drunk and said "host gator, can I help you?". The other instance of bad experiance was when I was suspended for using too many server resources.

it is normal to be suspended when you are over using server resources. it means that you need to upgrade to a dedicated one. hostgator is not the only host who do that, other host suspend also users who are using too much server resources.

I personally didn't like HostGator. At first I was glad to finally have an American support staff help me, but they were really stuck up and talked down to me. I used them for a few months before switching to a VPS plan (which they don't offer). Other than the odd support staff, I'd say their prices and quality is decent. Wouldn't use them again though.

Yeah, hostgator is good for running some small business website but if you are planning to host email marketing system or auto responder system either on your own or as a business services then I may suggest you get a dedicated server since they do actually limit the resource.

other than that, everything is fine and their support is awesome and rocks!!!

Never used HostGator but I'm hearing good things. I'm using free hosting now, haven't had any problems with it. No downtime so far and no ads.

I've used Hostgator for about 6 months. I'm very pleased with their service and especially their support. I've had to call a few times because of things I didn't understand, not for problems they created. Every time they have been very fast, friendly and helpful. I'm a happy customer.
