    Hiya Guys

I am rather new to SEO, but battling on quite well and seeing the sites slowly creep up google.

Im hearing lots of horror stories. Horror stories of sites being sandboxed and reduced in the listings. Does anybody actually know why this happens? - too much SEO? too many links at once?

At the moment I'm doing a few different things, blog comments, reciprocal links, a couple of purchased links from the link sales forum from high PR sites, article submission etc.

Im scared of doing too much now incase I get thrown down!

    :)

Well... it really depends. First of all try following all google guidelines. Create unique content on the site, dont use duplicated contents, Try building links the natural way and only through related niche for example if you have a web design site and asking a PR 6 furniture site to link to you wont help even if its PR 6. Its not relevant. I am not sure of link sales as Google often bans the site doing them nor buying links from brokers like textlinkads or others as Google always has its eyes on them. Just hopp around DP for more information, I am just learning like you :)

I would warn you against buying links - it's too shady a zone really. It might remain unnoticed, then it's fine, but you risk getting penalized after all.

Yes indeed the link buying worrys me most, but im not sure how else I can get decent links back to the site otherwise? - how would google know they are paid links - at the moment most of the links I have bought are blog roll.

My students are getting primary positions on Google without using dozen backlinks.

Google sandbox? I don't take care about it. Use these tips:

    * research and use 3 words keywords (terms with 3 words)

    * be sure to avoid general keywords, they don't work a lot

    * put your main keyword into the first 90 characters

    * put your main keyword into 2 links

    * put your main keyword into the file name (your-keyword.html)

    Hope it helps.

I've been sandboxed more then I can remember, but it's not horror because I set up clients not to just use SEO. SEO should be a portion of your advertising; remember to include SEM and SM, this way you're never relying on 1 outlet for revenue.

If you prepare yourself for possible problems like sandbox or rank drops, you wont feel the drop as such a problem. Just think long term and keep building your sites and rankings instead of worrying about this.

Don't think too much about SEO, focus on your site content and make sure it provides value.
Nothing too bad is going to happen to your site if you don't exaggerate with blackhat techniques.
